My guess is that after the play call on the previous play, Gase asked GW what the hell are you doing, and his response was fuck you. Fired for insubordination. Goes to show how dysfunctional the organizational structure is with the Jets. Not only can't the GM pick his HC, the HC can't choose his defensive coordinator. Hopefully all of this changes nothing and Gase is kicked to the curb at season's 0-16 end.

Bad play call . But do know firing him is comedy. Last year Jets Defense was 7th of 32 teams and Offense was 29th. This year Jets traded a key figure off Defense and still kept Jets in games even when the Offense throws an INT or QB fumble in Jets zone and stopped teams to field goal. I like this move to put more pressure on QB turn overs in Jets zone and see a prevent Defense no QB pressure give up TDs instead of field goals. Offense never been as good as Defense yet fire the DC? Lmfao! Offense Cord. is far worse than our Defense.

We ran the ball three times, though we might have been a bit lucky that the third run was called in-bounds. We took all the Raider T/Os. I was a bit surprised we kept our T/O rather than take ALL of the clock before punting. Only question is, should we have thrown for it on third down and rolled the dice there? We went for the strategy of making the Raiders go down the field and score a TD with 30 seconds and no T/Os, which called for a prevent defense, but Williams screwed it with his two Cover 0's. I can understand Gase being angry but I'm surprised the Jets have acted so decisively.

Personally I would have gone for a first down, not just run it for no gains and eating no clock 3 straight times.

I think the decisive action was due to this building all year. This was the last bit of evidence Gase needed to push JD & Chris to do it.
