"Obviously I was hoping to get drafted," said Flowers, whose father, Erik, was a first-round pick by the Bills in 2000 and cousin, Tre, was a fifth-round pick out of Oklahoma State by the Seahawks this year. "It was a little disappointing, but I'm still getting my shot at my dream. And that's playing in the NFL."

Flowers prides himself on his versatility, something that was on full display during his time at Oklahoma despite the fullback position becoming somewhat of a dying breed in the NFL.

The San Antonio, TX native showcased he can run, catch, block, contribute on special teams and left Oklahoma as the program's all-time leader in receiving touchdowns from a RB with 13, including five last season from Mayfield.

After getting a call from the Jets late in this year's draft expressing interest in him as an undrafted free agent, Flowers said it's a "great fit" for him and his skillset.

"Obviously with Coach Jeremy Bates, it's a good place for me to be," Flowers said. "He likes that West Coast Offense. He uses the H-back in a lot of different ways, uses the fullback in different ways. It's something I feel I can fit into."

Flowers' main competition for spot on the Week 1 53-man roster is incumbent starter Lawrence Thomas, a third-year veteran out of Michigan State -- another versatile player who contributed offensively, defensively and on special teams last season.
