Center Jack Allen out of Michigan State showed up and proved his potential with a good solid year he could develop into a very good starter for any team that is looking for an heir apparent.

Player Overview:

Despite having a cat named "Bubbles," Allen is a coach's dream with the leadership, competitiveness and the tenacious mindset to grind out the will of defenders by the end of the fourth quarter. While there are clearly some athletic limitations, Allen is especially adept at minimizing those while accentuating his strengths. There are too many check marks in his favor to expect him to fall short of an NFL career as an eventual starter.

Prospect Ranking was late 3rd to early 4th has solidified himself as a solid 3rd round prospect. Depending on how free agency goes he is a player that would fit in a Todd Bowles team and would love to see him stay in green & white.

Tackle John Theus from Georgia started at both tackle spots so he may offer some swing tackle potential for NFL teams. Has enough athleticism to help spring runs to the perimeter.

Player Overview:

Consistent starting tackle from the SEC who has battled against upper-*echelon college talent. While Theus has experience at both tackle spots, he may have issues in the NFL because he lacks the foot quickness of a left tackle and the power of a right tackle. He has the technique and talent to be drafted and fight for a swing tackle spot within his first two seasons, but he must add strength and mass.

Like Jack Allen, Theus was a late 3rd round early 4th round prospect that solidified his stock to a mid to late 3rd round grade. JT showed his light feet and fluidity that makes him a candidate for a team looking to develop a year or two to take the reigns at either tackle position.

RB Alex Collins running back from Arkansas proved he is the real deal. Excellent vision on the interior and consistently jukes and side*steps tackle attempts to create additional yardage. Touchdown hog. Plated 32 rushing touchdowns over last three years. Runs with consistent forward lean and always falls forward.

Player Overview:

Collins is the epitome of consistency rushing for over 1,000 yards and at least 5.4 yards per carry in each of his three seasons. Vision and footwork are the catalysts for his elusiveness and he has flashed long speed. Collins is a repetitive runner lacking dynamic talent, but he's run in gap, power and zone schemes and should be a scheme fit for most teams looking at running back. Collins should be able to step right in and challenge for carries and red zone work immediately.

Been a fan for this kid since day one. He has all the intangibles to be a complete back and a legit starter for many years. He isn't one of Mike Mayock's top 5 but he should be number one overall.

RB Peyton Barber has vision to recognize running crease development. Can weave from cut-to-cut on second level. Flashes good lateral agility to jump*-cut his way into better running lanes when interior traffic is a problem. Intelligent with ability to learn NFL playbook quickly. Makes sound decisions in blitz pick*ups.

Player Overview:

Redshirt sophomore who came out early, in part, due to depth of next year?s draft class at running back. Barber proved to be steady and productive with plus vision and a nose for pay dirt, but was missing the decisiveness and explosion that teams like from featured backs. Barber has the size and enough wiggle to make an NFL roster, but his draft value might be determined by his ability to help on special teams and on third downs.

Depending on what we do in free agency the Jets may be in need for two running backs and would not be against taking this kid with the fifth round selection. Basically would replace Zac Stacy and this kid will be playing with a huge chip on his shoulder to prove he belongs everyday and we know Todd Bowles loves these type of prospect(s).

I know everyone is hoping one of the Top 4 offensive tackles fall to 20th but there are better prospects after the Top 2 on day 2 of the draft. Whomever they do select, is going to need to translate to the next level at least one year. Majority of those day two prospects will have to work on developing some aspect but the potential is here this year to find and fill needs for us moving forward on rebuilding one of the oldest offensive lines in the league.

if say, myles jack, jalen smith or noah spence were still on the board at 20, would you grab one of them over one of the top 4 offensive tackles prospects still being available with the 20th pick??

I would think that depends on who the Jets view as the BAP. With that said, however, Offensive tackles are traditionally the safer picks.

Myles Jack is limited to 4-3 defensive scheme...
Noah Spence boom or bust potential...
Jaylon Smith would be the only one I would gamble on, because of his versatility could play any position in either 3-4 or 4-3 defense... Smith is likely to be out for the entire 2016 season and could be on the board at 20 and yes would be worth to grab him and shelve him for a season...

The four offensive tackles right now are not all great... Tunsil is a poor run blocker and Ronnie Stanley could vie for the better prospect... Taylor Decker bombed his combine making Jack Conklin the new number 3 OT... The first three will go in the Top 16... Would not gamble on Decker, looks to be more of a project rather than potential and he might do better as an interior lineman rather than tackle... Ifedi showed he has potential but like Noah Spence boom or bust potential...

The tackles I think would fit our offense are Kyle Murphy and Joe Haeg both 3rd/4th round ranked tackles... Also think Jack Allen from Michigan State could be a steal in mid rounds to backup and be a future starter after Nick Mangold hangs it up...

Jack Conklin just established himself as a Top 15 pick at worst he will go no later than 16...

The guy looks like a monster. Like 6' 6" 330 pounds? Would love to see him slip to 20....

Hearing that Jaylon Smith's stock took a tumble when it was discovered that his knee's multiple ligament tear has the added complication of nerve damage. Miserably bad luck for a potentially great player.

any GM that takes a shot on this kid in the 1st round is a GM in excellent standings with his team's ownership..

so yes, i can see mac being bold enough to pick smith at 20..

that said, the little i've researched the last half hour or so sounds pretty ominous..

buyer beware.....

Good read, but concerning Smith(being a ND fan I love this kid) we only have 6 picks in this draft. If Mac drafts Smith @ 20 and a QB in rd. 5 we will have 2 players who won't see the field until 2017 at the earliest.

If we don't take a QB in this draft and find a contributor with EVERY other pick, I'd be ok with it.

FA will play a big part in whether or not we have the luxury of taking Smith at #20. I don't believe he'll make it to pick 51.

Great point Booz. With that scenario, i don't see us improving at all over last year. We need contributors.
