my reasoning for this mock draft...

Cleveland needs a QB we all know that, but why Allen it is because he fits the division... He is big athletic with a strong arm like Big Ben, like Flacco but this isn't the main reason out of the top QBs he is the only one that plays in the north, cold weather and Cleveland like New York gets bitter cold... Allen maybe a developmental option but he passes the eye test and with a QB coach in Hue Jackson he should be able to mold JA into a franchise QB for the Browns for years to come...

The Giants are rolling with Eli Manning so to put the fear into defenses with a stud RB in Barkley along with the return of their receiving corps. should even out their offensive woes for the upcoming season... The G-Men will address the offensive line in round two with a stud left tackle, allowing them to move around their young pieces...

The Colts are in the perfect position and have been open to move down and they get their wish in this mock... They clearly want that second round pick in a trade down that is why they get one from the Chargers who know the best long term answer behind Rivers is Darnold... Now Sam will get to sit and learn from one of the game's prolific passers in Phillip Rivers and the Chargers won't have to worry about their future at this position... Giving up a 2nd with their 17th overall pick and next year's first seems like a good trade off...

Now at four the Browns know they need some depth and future at the offensive line but they are in a position not only to get their man but pick up an additional pick this year and another first next year... Making the trade with the Cardinals is a win win... Cardinals move up get arguably the most NFL ready QB in Josh Rosen, while the Browns keep stock piling...

Denver at five aren't flinching they already know they have the good leadership in the locker room and in the front office to take the chance on the Heisman winner, he will be an upgrade over what they have in house and would be foolish not to make this selection... Denver coaches have been working out with both Josh Allen and Baker Mayfield during practices at the Senior Bowl and they seem elated to be able to grab either one... With Allen going number one this is an easy selection...

BPA, yet again the Jets get a gift while filling a need... Quenton Nelson is arguably the best interior lineman maybe even lineman period in this draft... No need to think twice, just take Nelson and do what fans have been clamoring for years fix this offensive line...

Cleveland Browns at the Cardinals pick take offensive tackle Orlando Brown basically an understudy to Joe Thomas while giving them potential at the right tackle position...

Indianapolis Colts at 17 now can fill a few needs starting with a corner which is high on priority this off season... Moving down and getting a top 2 corner back in Minkah Fitzpatrick looks like a definite win win...

Things get a little messy when two high second round picks are taken off the board in the late first round:

Buffalo Bills take back to back, defensive line Wilkins from Clemson and QB Mason Rudolph, altering plans by many teams...
Then the Steelers decided to select Lamar Jackson while the Jaguars take Billy Price...

For the Jets to go OG, RB, OT with first three picks allows the team to start the much needed rebuild of the offensive line... After the first four QBs come off the board the Jets are faced with a dilemma, the next group is way below the spectrum of those top four but know this three highly potential prospects should be available in next year's draft... Fixing the OL, adding a play maker RB while filling holes throughout the roster allows the team to take the next step in this rebuild process...

Now I didn't say we won't dabble in the QB position in this draft... Regardless of what we don in FA, re-sign McCown, target Alex Smith, Kirk Coursins, Tyrod Taylor or whomever else is available... Maybe we make a move to trade for AJ McCarron... Too many possibilities...

Isaiah Wynn could become a mainstay at the left tackle position for over a decade if we do draft him... Like Wynn, Nelson also will be a mainstay at the interior position for over a decade this definitely would be a start in the right direction...

In the third round grabbing Kevin Tolliver from LSU, could be a day one starter...
Fourth round is where we grab Riley Ferguson from Memphis (former Tennessee Volunteer, transferred after injury)...

All in all, this would be an ideal draft for all teams not just the Jets...

Dont you feel the gm will want to get a name qb this year. As I dont follow the college game I don t know the qb.s . But the fans will go crazy if we take a lower qbin the draft or a top vet since we have the money. Not saying you are wrong but if we come back with same qb & A lower round rookie big mac will have big ones

Riley Ferguson might be a project but unlike Petty or Hackenberg, he is a capable under center pro style QB... he was highly recruited out of high school chose SEC Tennessee Volunteers, broke Paxton Lynch's school records while being a proficient pocket QB with quick feet and willing to tuck n run...

As for why his stock is low, is because after his injury (leg) he transferred to Junior College then again to Memphis where he continued his above level play... Memphis not really a school with any recognition for the pro level but Ferguson has the touch and is capable of pushing the ball down field with good velocity...

Doing their due diligence will allow them to fix the OL, get a play maker while building for the right franchise guy and Ferguson passes the eye test... Maybe he will be this year's Dak Prescott...

You left out DE/ER Bradley Chubb. I like the OG Nelson pick, I just think the Jets would go after Minkah Fitspatrick because he would fit Bowles Defense. I would prefer Nelson.

I see you now put Chubb in at 20. He won't last past the 7th pick.

If we stand pat and four QBs have gone we can't take a later round QB at #6 just for the sake of it.

Of course the downside to taking Nelson is that after his rookie contract we have to make him the best-paid guard in the NFL. Ideally with four QBs and Barkley gone we would trade down a few spots and take Nelson (if he is still there) or the LT, but as usual there would be no trading partners. In this case we would reap the full dividend of those meaningless wins that some were celebrating.

could Quenton Nelson develop into a left tackle at this level... He literally has the makeup, it may be a project but he is the rare type of offensive lineman that should be able to convert...

and at 6th to get the best offensive lineman in the draft then convert him from guard to tackle could be a slam dunk type of draft selection...

That may be unpopular, yet at the same time an interesting and very good draft. It provides a long overdue OL fix, a bell-cow RB and a potential long term solution at QB. I think you can't look at the draft in a vacuum, and that mock would be ideal combined with some key moves in FA. Ansah, Cousins, Jensen and Johnson?

Would be stunned if draft fell this way. Only way Jets don't trade up to 3 in this scenario, with Darnold, and Rosen still on the board is if they signed Cousins in FA. No mention of that. Nor is there any reflection of that with the Skins taking a DT at 13.
it would be good for the Jets, but At this point it is VERY unlikely the Browns take Allen at 1. Allen came to Senior Bowl with a LOT of accuracy questions. In order to be a top 10 pick he had to have a great week of practice. He didn't. He threw a lot of bad balls against air. Very Meh week. Mayfield has out played him on all points. A lot of the scouts have been making fun of him in tweets. Still a first rounder, but unless Dorsey wants to be fired quickly, he won't take Allen. Allen has looked like a Hack clone this week. Throw a few good balls, then miss a 5'x5' net from 5 yards away.j

BTW, I do think the Jets will sign Cousins in FA, which makes Nelson a good pick at 6. Myself I would have taken Chubb, unless they sign one of the 2 good FA pass rushers.

Key at 7 would be a major risk. Guy is good but appears to be a major problem child. Might be this year's winner of the head case award. Interviews will probably decide his fate. Don't think he is going to fare well

The big thing is we have to be right at the qb pickup otherwise we could have moe larry & curly on the bench as young qb's

I like Nelson at #6. But, by taking Chubs or Davenport we would finally get the ER that we have looked for for many years (as also a QB). We don't have that vocal leader on Defense. That impact player! There are a few ways we can go at #6. If we sign, say a Cousins, then I would think QB would not be an option.
