Jets GM and Coach

When you Draft a QB number 2 of first round, what’s the most important team building and Coaching comes next? Is it Defense to help QB in his growth? Is it Drafting a WR to wait and see if he becomes a top 5 WR in 3 years? Is it Drafting a RB that is key to Zach advancing his abilities? Is it waiting to see if O Line Players can be in shape and others maybe good enough to protect Zach? Is your Center good at pointing out and reading Defenses? Let me say this. If your idea of playing Zach last year and this year by building Defense to make Zach better is stupid. If you Drafted a WR and RB before making sure O Line is solid good, you are stupid. But if you are into making sure to ruin a high risk reward QB congrats you have done what EVERY GM an Coach has done since Namath! Awesome job guys telling me the QB position isn’t the number one important position on a football team! Geez all these years I thought QB was most important and protection first and WR and RB next in rebuilding and making sure you top pick QB has every chance to be that QB franchise future of Jets and why you Drafted him so high. Man I got it all backwards on developing QBs like Bills did it and many others.

Bronco’s game caused this loss. Zach needs to be sat by his poor play and silly passes to lose this game . But lots of Zach’s play is a result from your poor management decisions. Some should have been fixed last year and some this year. I don’t like wild QB play and if you as GM and HC can’t see that and should have fixed it before this current mess. You don’t like media crushing you at podium? Do your job and help this QB by treating him like a man when he earns it and treat him like a little boy when he doesn’t! I always told young guys act like an adult and I’ll treat you as such. Act like a kid and I’ll treat you as such in front of team.

Maybe this is the sensitive GM an Coaching and the future of wimpy football paying hundred of millions to Players who aren’t earning it. Not one of current players could play in 70s style ! Shoot 80s also. Not being stronger but mentally tougher to over come anything thrown at them with bloody noses, scrapes, pain, today blister out, it’s just silly. I’ll take determination of those players over coming all over todays players of giving all. Lawrence Taylor great example.

GM's and Coach's back in the day were able to sit their QB's for a few years to learn. Now Coach's are in a win NOW mode or lose their jobs. That's why young QBs are thrust into starting right away. I love the Jets as much as everyone else does here. IMHO I don't think Zach Wilson is nothing more than a #2 QB. Somewhere, Somehow, we have to find a young #1 QB.

Well sucking every year hasn’t worked too well for us. Not sure how else to go about it

today, on WFAN they were talking about, what if Zach isn’t the guy by the end of the season. They were saying we then have to go after a proven veteran QB. No more crap shooting in the draft.

how does that even make sense? Any team with a franchise QB is not likely to let him go. Most teams , even if they smell a hint that there QB is good lock him up for a second contract. At best you get an old guy who might have a couple decent years left in him and then you’re back to looking for his young replacement. Flinging your franchise qb generally is a combination of luck and sucking at the right time

our Jets actually did that once and Peyton chose to go back to school rather then become a Jet

The Jets should have invested in a QB coach and O-line coach in the offseason because the guys at the helm now aren’t getting it done.

Zach is making rookie mistakes. His footwork is horrible and how many times do we have to watch him running backward and stupidly throwing the ball off of his back foot?

This all needed to be worked out in the off-season. Zach looks like a player either “handcuffed and handing it off, or playing off of instinct's and making bad throws and inaccurate throws”.

IMO they’ve been hiding him because they didn’t develop him. He looks uncomfortable and is thinking way too much. Even when he has good time back there, he often still makes the wrong throw, or doesn’t position correctly to make an accurate throw. All of this needs to be automatic “systematically taking your snaps and quickly rolling through your progressions”. He locks in on his receiver and isn’t seeing the field. What was done to train him?

He just doesn’t seem to have the concept of a mental clock on plays. Quick read —> next receiver —> next receiver “oh he’s open, BANG that’s my throw” or Quick read —> next receiver —> next receiver “no one’s open” run —> or throw it away
