Macc has only hit on two good players in the draft? Darnold and Adams?

Chris Herndon, Leonard Williams, Jordan Jenkins, Brandon Shell, Elijah McGuire, Lac Edwards, and Marcus Maye. Plus, we don’t know yet about players like Shepherd, Fortukasi, Nickerson, or Clark.

Yeah, how anyone could say that after the season Herndon just had is beyond me.

It’s the same mentality that screams from the mountaintops about how bad a contract Trumaine Johnson was, but ignores moves like UFA Robby Anderson, Avery Williamson, LeVeon Bell, CJ Mosley, and Jamison Crowder.

His trades have been phenomenal overall, too. Darnold, H. Anderson, Osemele, and the Sheldon Richardson return. So while the 2-4 round draft picks and overall o-line production have been the Achilles heel so far, he has excelled in other areas.

I think that’s a fair analysis of Maccagnan.

Shepherds play was more effective than most noticed last season. One interesting stat that most guys don't even look at is how many penalties a player forces an opponent to make and for how many yards. Shepherd forced an opponent to commit penalties 8 times for 55 yards. Only Jenkens had a higher score in that area, 9 for 60 yards. So the rookie, double teamed a lot, shows signs of being effective. All of these guys you mentioned, are in my book, promising players and I project Herndon to be a star.

Herndon showed great receiving skills last year. He gets open, and Darnold seems to look for him as a primary option. That catch he made against GB in the red zone was ODB-like. An unbelievable one hand grab. We have a #1 TE.

The others are probably decent enough starters at best. Leo will get more sack opportunities with an edge defender helping out. I think Marcus Maye can be a star if he can stay healthy. Jenkins came on strong with 7 sacks last year. McGuire is a good backup to Bell.

I’d love to see Shepherd or Fatuskasi emerge as a d-line rotational player in ‘19.
