Sounds nice but in reality it doesn't work. How could we possibly evaluate three young players with actual playing time including the #1 offense? Can't happen. Either they cut one of the existing guys so they can actually get a shot somewhere or sit tight and evaluate both Petty & Hack. If both fail in 2017 then they should grab a true # 1 in 2018. They can position themselves this year to move up by moving down and accepting future picks due next year.
The Cowboys did it with Steve Walsh, Troy Aikman while having Veteran QB Laufenberg on the roster... So It's not exactly 3 young qbs but I believe it can be done... If we go into the season with Petty, Hack and a Draft kid...I think McCown is a veteran that can be there to learn the system work on the side while the young kids get the bulk of the Reps and you cut the one that is showing nothing and run with whichever young one is grabbing the bull by the horns and if the 2 young ones that are left aren't quite ready you run with McCown till they are this year and if they aren't ready this year, draft another one... Rinse repeat..... I do see your point. But I say keep swinging until you hit a home run,,, It's a QB driven league.
