Definitely seems to be a love/hate type of coach. Hopefully he sees quick success; that would help everyone buy in
Our starting "O" line, IF, it was all healthy is not that bad, Brown, Tomlinson, McGovern, AVT, Becton. I know, mixed feelings among you guys about Becton but when this kids on the field he dominates. Injuries happen. It's football. No one is down on AVT or Hall, but guess what they are injured. I'm going to hope that not only Becton but the entire team can stay healthy. What the "O" line needs, { OLD FART OPINION } is more QUALITY depth and better offensive coaching. Hopefully the latter has been addressed.
Add to that a new training staff that can help reverse this injury curse
Brown is over the hill. Tomlinson and McGovern played like crap. The only players who showed up on the Offensive line were AVT and Herbig. I don't where you can say they were not bad. They stunk!

As an OL guy, I love this hire. Absolutely love it. Best OL hire the Jets have made since Bill Callahan.
No disrespect intended here but, I might point out that Tomlinson played every game, 1110 snaps, allowed only { 1 } QB sack, no pressures, and had only { 1 } penalty called on him. Somehow that doesn't sound to me like he played like crap, especially for his age. I will gladly admit that AVT and Herbig though are better and expect them both to be starters next season. I also expect Tomlinson to still be here. Brown played with a bad shoulder. Also I said not THAT bad. I wasn't inferring that they were real good and couldn't be improved upon. The starting line I listed included AVT and Becton who were not part of the "O" line that we saw lose the last few games.

Carter is a no non-sense type coach will have the line more disciplined in their assignments. His practice demeanor is off the charts impressive. Our run game is going to take a step forward and be the staple of this offense. The only question will this help Laken or hurt him?
I think Laken will be fine for awhile anyway. I view him Brown and McGovern as place holders. I believe we will get younger and better at those positions as soon as possible. In the mean time maybe the coaching change will help.
