I doubt the Titans let him get away. Vrable watched Brady stand in one spot for years. He knows the value of o line. And I just read where they have plenty of cap space for him, Henry and Tannehill and then some

they had the ability to pick up his 5th year team option but declined unless they believe they can re-sign him for less they were preparing to move on from him...

I really don't understand why they would do this.

The Tennessee Titans will not pick up the fifth-year option of former All-Pro right tackle Jack Conklin, multiple outlets reported Wednesday. The option would have been worth nearly $13 million in 2020.
maybe they don't believe he is worth that much

That is pretty steep for a RT, I will give you that. But a very good RT at his age?

Offensive linemen of his caliber do not hit the market very often at his age.

Conklin is capable to play both tackle and guard positions which would be a plus for us...

If the Jets are interested it might not be for RT, it might be to replace Beachum at LT... It would be much easier to sign FA Vaitai (Eagles) to play RT then draft interior... Believe as much continuity between Harrison and Darnold was this season he doesn't fit long term as the starter...

Bringing back Lewis at LG and signing another former Eagle like Asiata could be in plans... Makes it much easier to insert a rookie center this season...

And don't get it wrong there are other options available in FA this year that might make sense for the Jets to probe...

Taylor Decker (LT) Lions will be UFA
to go along with Jack Conklin (OT) could sew up two tackle spots both are entering their primes...

Probably harder to get Decker because Lions more than likely to franchise him if they can not work out a long term deal...

Franchising a LT can get pricey. That said, Decker and Conklin would be almost too much to hope for.

Honestly, you land both of those guys, you have a ton of draft capital for CB, edge, WR, whatever you want.

Before last season, I was very much in favor of an upgrade at center. But right now, I am more inclined to keep Harrison for chemistry reasons, both with Sam and with the rest of the OL. His snaps were consistent and his play, while definitely not spectacular, was solid.

And maybe with better players around him he becomes even better.

Harrison did a great job better than Kalil by far...
But this organization wants to find someone young to groom to be the centerpiece...
To this point there are three prospects in this draft they like to be that guy...
  • Tyler Biadasz, Wisconsin
  • Nick Harris, Washington
  • Matt Hennessy, Temple

Here is another option for center via free agency:

C Cody Whitehair - Chicago
Whitehair could be the ultimate score for the Jets, who badly need a long-term solution at the center position. The 26-year old has a chance to become one of the highest paid offensive linemen in the league and could get extended soon. However, if he doesn't and is allowed to hit the market when his contract expires at the end of the season, the Jets could decide to prioritize him. Douglas and the Bears selected the Pro Bowl center in the second round of the 2016 draft.

Interesting for sure, but they may opt for a cheaper developmental guy they can get in 3rd round.
