Lefleur said he looked great. I haven’t heard anything suggesting he’s out of shape from the media, who pounce on the opportunity to rip Becton (Hughes, Cimini, Costello).Becton looks kinda out of shape with that gut .
Exactly. I want my tackles to be big as well as agile. It makes it tougher for the edge rusher to get around them.Lefleur said he looked great. I haven’t heard anything suggesting he’s out of shape from the media, who pounce on the opportunity to rip Becton (Hughes, Cimini, Costello).
Big guys like him can carry some weight around the middle. Look at most o-linemen in the league.
I was thinking he looks more like a RT with that gut.Becton looks kinda out of shape with that gut .
It would probably be the best thing for the team but I’m not sure it’s the best thing for Becton. I guess we’ll have to wait and see how it all works out. Jets already drafted a potential RT of the future and Fant doesn’t have a long term contract so there’s that.I was thinking he looks more like a RT with that gut.
WowWow, after all that and Jets giving him all last year to lose weight and Becton comes into camp looking like that? Wearing all the remarks about being fat on a shirt? No way he can shed 30 to 40 pounds and be stronger. What is he thinking? Jets needs to cut him now. What a shame he can’t control himself eating like that. Least he got millions for 1 season in shape and rookie of year from it. Jets can’t put this guy on field, he is an injury risk.
He might be facetious.

Fant deserves an extension. Becton will always struggle with his weight IMO. Looking at his body, I think he will always deal with injuries. Fant is plan B.To me Fant deserve an extension. Big George is better on the left side and arguably played at a Pro Bowl caliber level. Move Becton to RT with AVT next to him and just watch Breece Hall average five yards a rush
another fun fact..Saleh had the chance to publicly comment on the shape Becton is in, and he passed. That tells me a lot. If Becton came into minicamp in shape, the Jets would be shouting it from the rooftops. That they did not comment on his shape or weight publicly tells me what I need to know.
I don't think he looks that bad. Maybe we're expecting him to be lighter because we expect every LT to look like Brick. Barring injury or personal issues, he's going to succeed. But it might be at RT.TBH, i wish he came into the facility for workouts looking more fit, and i am understanding more so than before why some fans are nervous and upset.
however, 30 to 40 lbs to lose for a player that size who has been power lifting to keep strong and rehab can literally be done in a few weeks... he can start a practice at 380 and be 360 when it's over.
IMO, his rehab was all about strength. playing shape is now the top priority.

the reports of him ballooning up in weight durning his rehab seems more believable to me after seeing hin at his presser.. he did not pass the eye test.. not mine anyway..Yes and No. Saleh's style of being a player's coach is one in which he gives accolades to the guys who are ready to go and on the move.
That doesn't necessarily mean he's down on Becton; it just means he's not ready to shed praise on him w/o him ready to be on the move.
in Becton's presser, he said he hit a wall, because although the range of motion was there, he wasn't getting the strength back. That was his focus in the offseason. in the same presser, he was adamant that the strength was back.
i said i understood where people were coming from by questioning him... still do. i just want to see where he is football shape wise when training camp opens. call me a Pollyanna, but i believe in him being committed to being back better than ever.
players know their bodies. he knew he had to get the strength back first. to use your phraseology, if he doesn't appear closer to football shape when TC opens, that "tells me what i need to know".
and if he is close, Saleh will open the flood gates of praise on him.
