Jets' Mount Rushmore

They do a feature on Sunday Night Football where the comms select four great people from the home team's history to have their faces carved on a mountain. Since they have been wise enough not to put the Jets on Sunday Night Football (though there is a Monday national humiliation to come), can we think of four Jets for that mountain? The only name that springs to mind is Namath, and in honesty he is more renown for a prediction rather than a large body of great play.

If I was to ask for four Jets who should be ABANDONED on a mountain many more names would come forward.

No, coaches and owners are eligible too. In the SNF Saints-Cowpokes game the comms even suggested the fans with the paper bags on their heads from the Ain'ts days.

I’d go Namath, Maynard, C. Martin and Klecko. First three are HOFers and Klecko should be one. Toon most likely would have if the injuries wouldn’t have derailed that.

Gastineau's ridiculous hit on Kosar, keeping us out of the 1986 AFCCG, disqualifies him. I'm still pissed.

Just like you-know-who putting the ball on the ground twice during an AFCCG keeping the Jets out of the SB keeps him off my list despite an otherwise distinguished career.
I'm ok with keeping Mark off as long as Larry replaces him.

Oh God, what a friggin disaster of a game. Thanks for bringing it up, man. lol

I only remember Curtis fumbling once. Think it was Byars inexplicable one for the other one. Going down the sidelines for a score when the ball pops out. Only the Jets.

Clearest memory (nightmare?) from that game for me is Victor Green biting on the Elway pump fake. I remember jumping off the couch and screaming "oh f**king no!" when I saw "Toast" bite on that fake and Denver hit for like 50 yards on the play right before halftime. All downhill after that.

Revis has to be included. Namath, Klecko,, Revis, Martin.

In terms of excellent play and talent, no doubt Revis should be included. Problem for me is that the guy was a complete scumbag/awful teammate when it came to his contract and money. Just a never ending cycle of threatening to sit out unless the team renegotiated his deal.

Kiss of death for me with Revis was during a training camp when he was again threatening to sit out unless he got a new contract and more money. The guy stopped practicing because he said he was experiencing dizzy spells. Turns out he was faking the condition until the team paid him more. Never saw him in the same light ever again. Can't have that type of player on our Mt. Rushmore no matter how great he was as a player.

No doubt. Loved Freeman. He and Boozer are my favorite Jets' RBs.

Two other great Jet players I would consider are Mickey Schuler and Pat Leahy.
