5th Year Team Option
Jet Fanatics
Getting beaten by a better team happens all the time in the NFL. There are a lot of teams that have faced the New England Patriots (10 and 2) this season and lost. It happens. It's not so easy to take when you're 2 and 8, though. There are just too darned many better teams out there. That's what happened to the New York Jets on Sunday afternoon in Baltimore. The Ravens, at 6 and 5, notched another win while we fell to 2 and 9. Only the Titans and Giants are lower in wins/losses than we are while the Raiders and Saints match us game for game. It's not a good place to be.

As a longstanding fan, I can weather this if the future looks brighter. The NFL has mechanisms built in to help a struggling team improve. These are trades and draft picks. Both of these shift the responsibility for betterment from the players to the management. Shrewd and wily deals and choices can, and have, resulted in true Cinderella stories in the past. Teams can improve dramatically.

We're starting with a team that's not a bunch of has-beens. There are some fine players on the roster. We need to settle on a quarterback and mold the offensive squad around him. Assuming we start with a really good QB prospect next year, that's a two year project. We're sitting on quite a few draft picks even now. The 2028 New York Jets can look far more like a swan and far less like an ugly duckling. Choose wisely, management!
