Jets Need to Keep Le’Veon Bell

There have been plenty of fairy tales (driven by the head coach through back channels) this season, but nothing beats the one about Bell not being a good fit for this offense. He’s Le’Veon Freakin’ Bell for Pete’s sake. Smart coaches tailor their scheme to a player of his prodigious skillset rather than make him conform to a pre-determined offense. Bell rushed for just 789 yards on a career-low 3.2 yards per carry.

I’ve never seen a player of his caliber so misused. It was equal parts laughable and sad.

Gase incredibly didn’t give Bell a touch in the second half until about five minutes left in regulation in Buffalo on Sunday.

It’s no secret Gase never wanted Bell. In fact, he begged people behind the scenes last March to spread a nonsensical storyline Bell wasn’t needed in his offense to convince the powers that be that already wanted him. Then, he was amenable to moving Bell before the trade deadline. But the contract was too much of an obstacle to overcome for interested teams.

Bell has plenty of juice left. It makes little sense absorbing a sizeable chunk of Bell’s $13 million in 2020 to find a trade partner. Gase needs to check his ego, stop being stubborn and maximize Bell’s talent.

If Gase wants to cut Bell in 2021 (after his guaranteed money runs out), then so be it. But moving him this offseason isn’t sound.

I don't see a problem with Gase. He never wanted Bell in the first place. He wanted a less expensive but an all around player out of Atlanta. Cannot think of his name. Not saying Bell is not an all around player. It was a better fit and was the player Gase wanted

Bell needs his liberty because he is cracked......maybe the eagles want him lol...…..two years without playing much......he is well rested...…...but he may also be rusted......how can he play for a coach that does not want him...

So far the biggest problem with the Jets is Gase's ego!! He was a horrible hire on so many levels

Bell certainly didn't produce the numbers that we all expected but in my worthless opinion that's on Gase and the "O" line. The "O" line, and I use the term loosely, didn't block worth a shit most of the time on run plays and Gase doesn't have a clue how to design a play that utilizes Bell's skill set. What Bell contributes to the team in leadership and morale far outweighs the slight loss in yds/carry. And to boot we have already paid him for next year even if he leaves and I seriously doubt that any team would give up enough to compensate for his loss. Not that my opinion matters when push comes to shove they will do whatever they want.

Tight end Mike Gesicki has blossomed in his second season, especially lately. Gesicki has 36 catches for 401 yards, compared to 22 catches for 202 yards as a rookie. Gase used him as a blocking TE

DeVante Parker has already reached a career-high 854 yards . Really good.

Oh and

Ryan Tannehill, is leading the NFL in passer rating for the Titans.

I remember a press conference he had in Miami talking about Tannahill , it sounded like he couldn't stand the guy and he was playing injured . He just about ruined him as an NFL QB.
How's Miami feel about getting rid of him for the future of the team and playing with Fitzpatrick ?

Gase had a fucked a resume when he came here and it only gotten worse .

Going no where with this guy

Maybe he'll run Sam outta town so he can become a legit QB somewhere

I think Christopher walked the franchise into hell with this Gase hire, but we are going to have to grin & bear through it because he isn't firing him anytime soon.

Bell should have been a huge asset to Darnold, yet either Gase's incompetence to use him correctly or huge ego "which made him intentionally use him incorrectly just to spite everyone while he kept throwing a temper tantrum of not wanting him".

Anyway you look at it, it's not good. Either the coach has no clue as to WTH he is doing or he intentionally sabotaged things just to prove his point.

Bell should definitely be retained (we need to fix the O Line and either let the OC call the plays or hire one who know WTF they are doing).

Gase was signed mostly for his QB coaching. Look how well Tannehill has been playing since getting release from Gase.
