Jets Offense ranking

If we perform as a top 10 Offense with this Defense.... Schedule be damned this team better be in the playoffs if not slugging it out with the Pats for the division

The Jets offense line and their Qb might be the reason they aren't a top ten offense.( those two areas would have to play very well in 2016 for them to be a top ten offense. Seem a little high that ranking due to those two area of concerns.

I'll agree with you on the OL. Think it's the key to the Jets success this year. I'm confident that if Fitz gets good protection, and a running game, he'll put up good #'s again.

OL's the key

Let me know when the Raiders rank in the top 10 in anything. But I agree the OL is a slight concern.

The Raiders offense and defense units next year will easily be ranked in the top ten in the NFL.
Getting back to the discussion.
The strength of the offense line plays a big role in the effectiveness of an offense ( especially when a team doesn't have a franchise Qb- those rare franchise Qb's can produce even when there offense line is weak- not happening with non elite franchise Qb)).

You can have all the weapons you can imagine on offense, but if your offense line and Qb are sub par , than it's going to be hard for that offense to produce.( especially if you are facing tougher teams/ defenses).

Right now taking everything I mention in account, it's hard to see the Jets offense ranking that high in 2016. The Jets offense line unexpectly is much better than advertise , than it becomes more realistic seeing that offense ranking that high.
Jets lose one starter on the offense line , and that offense can
go south really fast. ( despite the fact they do have some impressive offense weapons).

I have heard Raider fans say that every year since the early 2000's. I will believe it when I see it.

There isn't anything wrong taking that approach. At the end of the season we will see if that is the case.

But you did see the Raider offense capabilities last year against a very good Jet defense. That young offense is only going to be so much better in 2016. Upgraded the offense line bigtime( K Osemele) giving them easily one of the top three offense line in the NFL. Emerging young Qb Derek Carr with young weapons every where that should be so much better with another year in the system. ( Amari Cooper, Seth Roberts, L Murray and Clive Walford).
The defense is where they will see the biggest improvement from the Raiders. Have one of the most versatile defense fronts in the game.( can play any defense 5-2, 4-3 , 3-4) . They upgraded that unit bigtime in Fa, and the draft so much that gives them a legitimate shot of winning the Afc West this year.( more well balanced on both sides of the ball than any team in that division)..

THE GAME ISN't played on paper but on the field. we are going to see if that is indeed the case.

As a huge AFL fan ,I liked 2 teams to choose from & it was JETS/Raiders. When Jets made & won SB3 it made my choice. My oldest son(39) is a big time Raiders fan & I'm always pulling for them to have the Defense of old. This year Raiders are far better team & have a good chance to win the division & I hope they do. I would like to see a Raiders/Jets playoffs just like the old .

You know Im not sold on Matt F...I mean Ivory was a beast for us! The line knew and understood his running tendencies and vice versa. Forte is more a finesse back and Im not sure hes going to be willing put put his body on the line like Chris did every play considering hes coming off injury. We have a very good receiving group (Still need TE) but it was our running game that really made the offense what it was and that was Ivory. Lets see what happens but Im not that optimistic that we are a top 10...I would put us somewhere between 19-25. Ryan needs to earn every bit of that $12 Million dammit!

The article specifically said Fitz was the only reason the ranking went from 23 to 8. So it's not that they over looked Fitz, it's that their opinion id's different than yours.

Based on watching every game, Fitz actually compensates for bad line play on the right side. He had a very quick release and is a legitimate threat to run at exactly the right time. He also doesn't pass the ball around his back in the end zone.

The Jets performance very much hinges on 2 things, health, and field position.

Special teams should have ranked dead last, last year.
