Mentioned that. The only reason I can think of that he would is ego, and belief in himself. He could sit on IR and collect his money, or he could accept an injury settlement go out and sign with another team, "and prove everyone wrong" At least in his mind. Players do it all the time.

He knows he doesn't have the talent. If he collects the money that is what he is saying and if he accepts the settlement then he believes in himself and wants to do the right thing and not steal any more money from his former employer.
