it doesn't seem possible for the "ball out" time gap to be that wide a gap between to pro QB's..That 2.76 "ball out" time is the reason. Last season it was over 5. One of the worst in the league. Made the OL look like crap.

LOLz oh i remember!!Just think of all the times Smith retreated, or flat out ran toward his own goal line before throwing the ball up for grabs.

that's still a staggering difference in time an OL had to block for smith in comparison to fitzpatrick..
i'm not buying the better WR's fitzpatrick has would whittle off around 2 seconds of "ball out" time for smith, BTW..
in fairness, the upgrade of marshall (still a true #1 ) from harvin (a glorified gadget WR) is off the charts.. plus it allowed decker to be what he is again, a big time #2 !!Oh, neither am I. And it's really not "better WR's" as in plural. It's basically a trade of Harvin, for Marshall. That's all that changed.
Harvin is a very explosive receiver, but I acknowledge Marshall is more effective. Even though Marshall had a down, injury year last year.
Smith is where he belongs. If disaster should strike, and Smith gets back in the game, I'll root for the #7 jersey to succeed. And hope someone else is wearing it next year.
