I just don't see the long term wisdom in getting Glennon other than to try to save your job and win 7 or 8 games this year. I'm better with either drafting Trubisky or Watson or just play Hackenberg. We need a franchise QB and Glennon is not it.

To me, he was young enough with potentially more upside than either guy they have now. If they're out on him, but they go all in on a Taylor, I will be unimpressed.

I'd rather Taylor if he becomes available. IMO, a little better fit for the team we are now, if the FO thinks sending Hackenberg out there will hurt his development and Petty isn't ever going to be the guy. To me that means probably drafting a QB day 2 or 3.

No way Mac goes after Tyrod either. OMG, there is so much smokescreen its ridiculously being taken literally.

Taylor is an option for $8mil, though thats unrealistic. Mac LOVES Hackenberg. I feel he will first and foremost build a solid offensive line and provide a strong run game in order to develop Hack the right way.

The Jets unloaded alot of cap because they know they have a lot of work to do....not to invest a BULK of that cash in a journey man QB...Yet again.

The price tags are ridiculous with the QB's. They know some desperate team will pay up. I'm getting to the point where I can accept Petty and Hack battling it out. Brian Hoyer can sit on the sideline and come in if they both flop.

If the Bills let Taylor go I think there's a good chance he's a Jet. In the scenario you describe, Taylor would be a good fit for the next year as a starter, hopefully second as a backup to a franchise QB. Petty is out of the conversation I think, his ceiling is QB2 from the way I read it.

I would take Taylor. He doesn't really make big mistakes. He has some upside. He has plenty of experience. He put up ok numbers with basically no Watkins for last two years. Especially if he is in the $8M range.

What??
Tyrod will make more than glennon. Glennon is expected to sign for 15 mil plus.

Neither glennon, tyrod, petty,or hack are really west coast QB's, which is what we are employing. Mac doesn't really spend big in fa, but we haven't seen him run after a qb yet.

I doubt he throws big money at anyone this year. This is about cutting cap, and adding bodies.

I have been in this same school of thought since last season. TT is not a good qb. Despite all the "experts" on this, and other boards, we know very little about Petty or Hack. The two were handcuffed by Gailey who was always in a win now situation. When Gailey supposedly told TB that he was leaving at the end of the year; he already quit.

Jets are strongly considering Brian Hoyer. As are the 49ers. That is the Bleacher Report alert that I just received to ruin my morning. Can we just go with the young guys and stop bsing with these plug guys. If Hack and Petty stink up the joint, we'll end up with the first pick. These kids are hungry let them battle it out. Hoyer is a journeyman, we've seen how this story plays out.

Well, if one of the kids plays well, they can keep Hoyer on the sideline. I don't mind Hoyer. He's just insurance. Unless of course, Petty and Hack both suck right outta the gate!

agree. hoyer is probably my top pick as a "baby-sitter" QB and insurance policy if the two kids stink up the joint

In my opinion, I rather they stink up the joint than us having Hoyer out there preventing our draft choice. The guy you have to be afraid of is Bowles. He will play the "Hoyer gives us the best chance to win." I would give Petty and Hack (whoever wins the job) the start for the first six or so games. If they do not show any improvement over time, I go to the next one. Hoyer should not play until after those two options are exhausted in my opinion. If this is going to be a rebuild, we should go all in.

If they stink, we get the top pick. If Hoyer sees the field, we'll be mediocre only crippling us down the line.

I gotta believe if MM signs Hoyer and doesn't draft a QB early then that tells us a lot about how team hierarchy feels about one or both of the youngsters. Perhaps it is naive on my part, but I hope thats how it plays out this off-season as far as the QB position goes. I hope and pray that Hack is the heir apparent, and is just getting the time to develop properly.

I think that's gonna be the plan.. I think they like the talent of both Petty and Hack.. So Hoyer seems like the logical guy to go after this year
