Mettenberger would be at the top of my call list. Glennon would be #2 . And one kid I hate his guts is AJ McCaron...but I'd trade a 6th or 7th rd pick to see what he can do.
I'd like to add a QB that could take Fitzpatrick's job after the bye week; however, truth is, jets have Geno, Fitzpatrick, and Petty...unless they're ready to give up on Petty, not enough roster spots for a 4th QB, IMO...
which is exactly why i don't see the jets trading a draft pick for a QB. they won't carry 4 QBs all year, so you are just wasting a pick in a trade. most likely route will be to select someone from the trash heap on the street, as unappealing as that may be

I like Jake Locker ... formerly of the Tennessee Titans ... Age 27, nice size, former 1st round pick ...retired after season ending injury last year. Injury prone but talented.

well as you noted, he RETIRED.
not sure why he would change his mind to become the backup QB for the jets for a few weeks until geno is cleared to play.

ESPN's Josina Anderson reports the Jets have "no imminent plan" to workout free agent quarterbacks Rex Grossman or Tyler Thigpen.
Anderson said the Jets have no plans to add a quarterback before Thursday's preseason opener against the Lions. Grossman hasn't appeared in a game since 2011 and would only be a depth signing for the Jets. The Jets should be fine with Ryan Fitzpatrick under center while Geno Smith recovers from a broken jaw.
