The Jets aren’t going to have tight end Jace Amaro in the lineup on Monday night against the Dolphins because of a concussion, which caused the team to make a roster move on Monday afternoon.
Tight end Chris Pantale has been summoned from the practice squad to provide some depth at the position. Pantale spent some time on the active roster last season, but never played in a game. He’s been on the Jets’ practice squad all this year.
The Jets released veteran linebacker Antwan Barnes to clear room for Pantale on the roster. Barnes missed 11 games last season after injuring his knee and was out the first six games this year while still recovering from the same injury. He only played sparingly since his return and shown little pass rushing burst.
Sixth-round pick I.K. Enemkpali was one of the young players that coach Rex Ryan has talked about playing more often in the season’s final few weeks and Barnes’s departure opens the door to that possibility.
