Peake has everything the NFL looks for in a wide receiver. He has excellent size at 6-foot-3. He's big bodied, strong and runs well for his size. Peake has excellent ball skills, hand-eye coordination and can make the difficult catches look easy. Peake's a good route runner that easily creates separation. He has soft hands and can beat a defense deep or work the middle or intermediate areas very successfully. In the run game Peake's a big asset and a quality blocker on the edge.

Despite the wealth of talent of what was in front of him at Clemson you still wonder why Peake didn't have a better overall career, despite the ACL injury in 2013. He has to learn to play and practice with consistency, which really started to show in 2015, his best year as a Tiger.

Mac and TB have nailed this draft to a tee. I love this pick and the Punter seems to be a good one also. Can't argue any picks they made, especially after watching many videos on Hackenburg.

Dudes a steal.

Since he was rated a 3rd rounder i'am guessing it cancels out the fans who were complaining about our 5th round tackle who was projected as a 6th.

(cant have your cake and eat it too)

Mac was a monster in this draft... NAILED IT!

Can't stand guys who aren't dedicated to their craft.

I realize it's a 7th round flyer, but I'd MUCH rather take a chance on a physically-limited warrior than someone who fits the description above . . .

EDIT:

I just realizes it sounds like I'm looking for something to complain about, but honestly I'm not. I'm willing to wait on all of these guys before I cast judgement -- I just can't stand when a player sounds like Coples 2.0 . . .

RT @Connor_J_Hughes: Charone Peake is fast. Really fast. He just said he’s been clocked at 4.19 in the 40-yard dash.

Sure, they can have their cake and eat it, too. They're Jets fans. Take a guy one round earlier than projected, it's a reach and the GM is a moron. Take a guy three rounds later than projected, he must be a problem to have fallen that far and the GM is a moron. Draft need, and the GM is a moron for not going BPA. Go BPA, and the GM is a moron for not addressing one of the team's needs.

this past season he was more dedicated to his craft but after his injury and playing behind the likes of Sammy Watkins, etc it seemed like he was getting lost in the shuffle... basically most prospects with any kind of knee injury in this draft, dropped...

STRENGTHS

Possesses outstanding combination of size, length and deep speed. Looks the part of a WR1. Plays with consistent lean and acceleration into routes. Big athlete with some shake underneath to separate in tight quarters. Controlled strider after the catch with ability to hit top gear quickly on wide receiver screens and crossers. Is best when aggressively finishing catches against cornerbacks. Three-level potential as a pass catcher. Shows cornerbacks varied route speeds. Sells route at his top speed, but has another gear saved up to overtake defender when he hits the gas. Legitimate deep ball threat. Has potential to be dominant run blocker if he commits. Hard worker in the classroom and scouts love his personal character.

WEAKNESSES

Hands are extremely small for his size and position. Late to get hands in catch*-ready position on intermediate throws. Dropped five passes for drop rate of 9.1 percent. Slows a bit on vertical routes when turning to find ball rather than maintaining top speed. Can improve working to open spaces against zone. Production never matched talent. Inconsistent in release success against press. Injuries are a major concern with two knee surgeries in his background.

SOURCES TELL US

"Like his size and speed but hands are dicey. Will work out well and get people excited." -- Southeastern area scout.

BOTTOM LINE

Rare combination of size and speed that can often be found in number one wide receivers. Peake was highly regarded coming out of high school but failed to post eye-*popping production thanks, in part, to two knee injuries. While his small hands are a concern, his athleticism and ability to operate on all levels of the field warrant consideration inside the first three rounds if his medicals check out

If it's injury-related that's a different story.

But when God gives someone a life-changing talent and he "doesn't really care"? I find it REALLY hard to root for him, even when he's in green and white . . .

It sounds like if that was somewhat of a problem in the past, he turned it around this past season.

The whole question about his commitment seems odd, especially since, according to ESPN, he was named a captain.

Yeah, it sounds like the "small hands" excuse has more traction (along with injury history), but still seems surprising that he dropped to the 7th round.

Even we thought it was worth trading up for a backup RT, but apparently not for this guy . . .

I love the pick. Great speed and size, and loads of toughness. Mark my words, this guy will be a contributor THIS year.

a lot players slid down the draft boards due to knee related issues... some were taken early after round one but the rest just tumbled, this kid checks out medically he will be a monster pickup for us and he doesn't need to step in day one and produce... but if or when he does watch out...
