Is it me, or is there a resemblance to Busta Rhymes?:)

Initially this signing did not make any sense to me, I thought they were shopping at the dollar store when they should have been shopping at Macy's.

However, now with the addition of Revis this makes sense. When Skrines is on the field, they are going to ask him to be aggressive, gamble and jump a route every so often. Because here's the thing, they'll have an extra Safety in back of him in case the receiver gets by.

Skrines will also see time in the slot I would imagine and IMO anything other than Kyle Wilson is an improvement. Wilson has just never graduated beyond the slot and he's been shaky at that. This when he was actually drafted to become Cro's eventual replacement.

I look forward to this guy picking off an attempted bubble screen, running back for a pick 6 - a Skrine pass!

I haven't looked at his stats as compared to other CBs but I'm guessing he was frequently thrown at due to Joe Haden being on the other side.
Could be one of the reasons for his high penalty rate.

From PFF -

Buster Skrine
New York Jets: D

If you're not going to be the best corner on the team, you need to be able to at least hold up under the weight of targets you're going to receive as the second corner, and Skrine couldn't manage that in Cleveland this past season. With Joe Haden tracking receivers, Skrine was forced to move around to accommodate him and was thrown at a massive 123 times over the year, the second most for all corners behind only Jason McCourty.

Skrine surrendered 70 catches for 864 yards and eight touchdowns, the third most of any corner in the league.

At his best, Skrine is a marginal corner who could do a job as a sub-package guy, but looked overmatched as a starter. If the Jets don't land Darrelle Revis, then Skrine will be in line to start for the Jets, and he would be the second-best corner in that stable behind a returning Dee Milliner.

The glimmer of hope is that Skrine did have several positive games during the season and did show the ability to get his hands on some passes, notching eight passes defensed and intercepting four passes.

I'll admit, reading that makes me feel like we're getting Kyle Wilson Part II.

But then you hear how glowingly the coaches, teammates and FANS talk about him -- when's the last time you heard a positive Wilson comment?!

We gotta hope the FO was right about whatever they saw in him. If all he does is get us off the field on 3rd downs he'll ALREADY be an upgrade over past years . . .

Boy, read that and you think we got Revis Jr!

Hopefully the kid truly is "up and coming" -- to me, that's the RIGHT way to use Free Agency . . .

Awesome article and holy crap, I didnt know he ran a 4.29 at the combine. His family background and all business total professional and work ethic being recognized by so many is also impressive. Looks like a real fine that would fit in with Revis very, very well. They will be competing in practice against each other I bet, and Skrine is the type that backs down from no one, you cna tell. This is a very exciting addition...just hope he gets those 11 PI numbers down. :)

I just wanted to post the numbers you asked about (targets vs completions). Anything that comes from Florio's team needs to be taken with a grain of salt...or shot of whiskey...:)

I posted it yesterday. Doesn't anyone pay attention when I talk? :anyone:

Actually I said he ran in the 4.3's at the combines but reportedly runs in the 4.2's, didn't know he cracked the 4.2's at the combines. Either way one thing is for certain, he's fast and I like fast DB's :)

Thank 55, I must have missed that posting.
He seems to have plenty of speed to be an NFL CB.
Hopefully this guy can be coached up with the new staff and Revis around.

You're obviously not married or you'd be used to it.

It is posted on another thread. I went and grabbed it and placed it here based on OCCH's comment, "I'm guessing he was frequently thrown at due to Joe Haden being on the other side."
