Jets sign CB Pierre Desir

The Jets released cornerbacks Trumaine Johnson and Darryl Roberts in recent days and they moved to help restock the position on Sunday by picking up a player discarded by the Colts.

Connor Hughes of TheAthletic.com was the first to report that the team has reached agreement on a one-year deal with Pierre Desir.

Desir was released by the Colts this weekend after signing a three-year, $11.25 million deal with the team last year. He started 11 games during the 2019 season and recorded 50 tackles and three interceptions.

Desir joins fellow ex-Colt Nate Hairston, Brian Poole, Arthur Maulet and Bless Austin at cornerback for the Jets.

The Jets now have a legit secondary across the board. I am more than happy with the trio of Desir, Austin, and Poole, with Prez and Maye at S.

If they address WR and pass rush, the offseason will be just about perfect.

there is concerns about the durability of Bless Austin, but if healthy he will be a beast...

from what I am hearing the Jets and Joe Douglas are monitoring the Rasul Douglas, Eagles situation... If he gets released expect us to sign him as well... Doubt they will trade for him...

Darby should have a big market, yet he doesn't. That's what scares me.

As for Douglas, if he was benched last year after Douglas left the Eagles, he may have a more favorable opinion of him than the Philly front office does.

2019, he missed five games, which now brings his total to 20 missed games over the last three years. The sixth-year pro has never played a full 16 game season in the NFL...

That is a legit bargain for him. He could be starter quality, isn't yet 30. Wow.

He’s not going to be confused with Revis, but Desir is an aggressive cover corner and a good tackler. I hope this doesn’t preclude Joe from going after yet another CB ( hopefully Jimmy Smith) on , say a one or two year deal. I’d be much happier in knowing drafting a corner early would be dire.
