Think they are afraid Flynn won't be ready for the season, and don't want to put any "starting" pressure on Petty

I understand about Flynn's hamstring, but Geno will be ready just a few weeks into the regular season. I'm not a fan of having 4 QBs on the regular season roster especially given that the competition is strong at certain positions like WR. In order to carry 4 QBs we probably have to cut a pretty good player at another position.

My guess is we release Flynn and start the season with Fitzpatrick, Petty and Johnson. Maybe they will PUP or short term IR the other guy

well geno isn't gonna be ready week 1. so unless we carry 4 QBs, petty would be the #2 QB. not sure they want to put him in that spot.

i would guess that fitz, geno, petty and either johnson or flynn make the opening day roster. yes, we will have to carry 1 less player elsewhere. i'm guessing ridley starts the year on the PUP and we go with 3 RBs. probably by the time geno heals, ridley can come off the PUP and we cut johnson or flynn

I would also put Dee Milliner on the re-callable IR (8 weeks). That would free up another position player slot.

Regardless, the Jets have a few options at QB now. Fitz is gonna be there as a starter or backup throughout the year. He's the best QB on the roster right now. And then between Geno, Flynn, and Johnson you have a second option available. Heaps is done, and Petty is the future.

Something tells me that Flynn or Johnson won't be here past mid season.

I agree. This is probably their most logical thinking. What they actually do is another matter.

Nothing against anyone but I dont see the sense of enamoredness with Ridley. Hes coming off acl A rb. And jets have others. Unless an injury happens. I dont see him on team at this point. I think they signed him w hope he cud be ready sooner but obviously isn't happening. I consider him a non issue at this point for whole season

Now, I'm a little more optimistic about Fitzpatrick than that, but the point is still somewhat valid.

Every year? I can't remember the last time the Jets have had a legitimate QB competition. The one between Sanchez, and Smith was a joke.
