Martin Connected on Four of His Six Field Goal Attempts in Preseason Action with the Jets

The Jets have signed K
Ross Martin to a reserve/future contract.

Martin originally signed with the team May 5th as an undrafted free agent and spent the entirety of training camp in Florham Park. The Duke product was cut Aug. 28 following a preseason matchup against the crosstown Giants. The 5’9”, 183-pounder connected on four of his six field goals in the preseason, one of which was a 55-yarder.

Martin was very successful in college, becoming one of three players in ACC history to register 400-plus points. He also set the Blue Devils’ single-season record for field goals made (26/30) and points (120) his senior year.

Watch out Nick Folk, this kid is back and you had a bad season... This will be the position battle to watch this off season...

Interesting to see how this pans out. I know he overall disappointed and was cut - hopefully he's been working on his kicking and comes back stronger next Year.

Bad season?

He hit 87% of his FG's, including 3-3 in the 40-49 range, and 2-4 in the 50+ range. He was 24-26 on PAT's that are now essentially decent FG attempts.

I don't think Folk's got anything to worry about.
