like this guys flexibility and speed - seems to have good if not great record so far - and not old.

Now that we have the DBs all signed up - my primary question is who covers Gronk? Is this the guy? or does Skrine? I suppose he will depend on situations and packages, but must be plans to control Gronk.

I am really liking what these guys are doing... Need to draft mostly offensive side of ball and an LB...

+1 I'm really liking the Gilchrist signing . In looking at some video highlights of his play with SD , I'd say he plays very well in space , and is very quick. I'd love to see us picking up a pass rushing demon at OLB and another OL to groom as an eventual replacement for D'Brick , and who can play immediately at guard.

Would be nice to find a 6'8 safety or LBer to cover Gronk. Not sure which tree we could pick him from.

The key to the highlights isnt the plays, I mean, it is a highlight video he's going to always have big plays, its his head. Look how he always has his head on what the QB is doing, even in coverage. That's the key to me. I hate guys in coverage who never get their head around. He tips a lot of balls in these highlights because he sees the ball coming.

Nice highlights. Very active and aware and covers like a CB. Glowing words from Mayock.

Rex must be having a heart attack.
With all of our fa spending on d,we may be making a big offensive push in the draft
Thats the way I see it also. Besides LB in the first round (I don't think Mariota is in play anymore but I won't be surprised if they do draft him). If my thinking is correct that they go LB in the first round, then all the other picks will be o-linemen, RB, WR and maybe a QB.

nice signing. looking forward to seeing how bowles and gang use all of these pieces in the secondary. will be quite the change from what we threw out there last year (understatement of the year)...

Highlights were inspiring, lol. Great addition and looking forward to seeing him on the field. The way I see it, Gilchrist and Pryor are the starting safeties and Revis, Cro, Skrime, Milliner, Williams, Walls and McDougle in this order of CBs. Seems the way Bowles loves to use his DBs, they all will see a lot of time on the field including Allen and Jarrett.

Takeaways on former San Diego Chargers safety Marcus Gilchrist, who agreed to a four-year contract Thursday night with the New York Jets:

1. Behold, the Jets' new secondary. Gilchrist becomes the fourth new starting-caliber player, joining cornerbacks Darrelle Revis, Antonio Cromartie and Buster Skrine. For coach Todd Bowles, a former safety, this has been like a prolonged Christmas morning. The Jets added four experienced players -- all under the age of 31 (as of now) -- to a secondary that was woefully undermanned last season. To say this has been stunning would be an understatement.

2. Gilchrist's most attractive quality is his versatility. He was drafted as a cornerback (a second-round pick in 2011), so you know he has coverage skills. That explains why the Chargers moved him to the slot in nickel situations. A breakdown of his snaps last season, via ESPN Stats & Information: Slot (401 snaps), strong safety (306) and free safety (201). He played more than 900 defensive snaps, rarely coming off the field. Bowles likes to use a lot of single-high safety looks, so it'll be interesting to see if Gilchrist has the range to play the "center field" role. Chances are, he'll be paired with Calvin Pryor as interchangeable safeties.

3. Gilchrist, 26, is a sure tackler, a hard worker and smart on his feet -- he doesn't make many mental errors, which is critical for a safety. The question is, why hasn't he made more big plays? His career numbers are modest: Five interceptions, 16 pass break-ups and three sacks. The turnover-starved Jets need a ballhawk in the worst way. They need someone to play in space, allowing Pryor to stay in the box. We'll see if Gilchrist can be that guy. He allowed five touchdown passes and committed seven penalties (second-highest among safeties), according to Pro Football Focus data.

The video is great, but somehow , I don't see the soundtrack making it into the NFL film room.

LOL.

Doesn't actually bother me, I could care less what these guys do off the field, as long as they show up on Sunday.

It just kind of baffles me why so many of these young millionaires want to rep themselves as thug turds.

Oh well none of my business I guess

Not questioning the Secondary or D-Line, but we need a lot of help at LB. I would not question if we drafted 2 LBers with our 1st and 2nd Rd picks. Not to mention we need help on the OL.

IDK

Lets see what Bowles can do with Coples. the inside guys are fine, Pace is on his last legs, but still serviceable.

If Mariota isn't there at 6, I'm anticipating a pass rusher

I think we are fine inside.... Davis is solid and young.. I believe Harris is still an above average LB'er that will fit better in Bowles system (won't be in coverage)

The Key are the OLB'ers... Something in my gut says Bowles is gonna unleash Coples talent... and he will be 12-15 sack guy this year...

Want Gregory at 6 if Mariota isn't there But I wouldn't mind getting Cooper or White either. Our D should be good no matter what... the more weapons we can give Gailey to work with to helop Geno or Fitz... I am good with.

Nice addition. It's going to be fun to see how Bowles uses his new toys.

I remember Cro and Allen used to bracket Gronk under Rex, but Bowles can give Brady and gronk so many looks while Skrine can blanket Edelman and we still have Revis and Milliner...heck, you can put Milliner on Gronk for the game if you want. So much flexibility and options for the game plan. Pretty exciting.
