Since they used the non exclusive tag, Hall can negotiate with other teams. I doubt he gets a single offer so he will likely agree to an extension. That's his best fiscal option and he will have future guarantees.
If he refuses to sign, he sits, loses $14 million and the accrued season. The Jets will still control his rights in 27.
Tough decision for a player. He is not going to recover the lost money on a future contract but the risk of injury with no future guarantees very real.

Any team that was to sign him away from the Jets would have to give the Jets 2 first round picks as compensation plus pay Hall that amount that the Jets weren't willing to match. That's pretty expensive for a RB. Mouge did the right thing. Either way the jets win. The only teams that would likely even consider that deal, I can think of 4, all pick in the top 10 so we would have 3 in round 1 this season in the top 16 plus another in 2027. We currently have 3 good backs and one average back behind him so I'm guessing that Mouge is sitting back in his chair grinning from ear to ear.
I know, that's why I don't think he gets any interest. He isn't one of the top backs in the league. He isn't worth a first round pick, let alone 2. Honestly if any top 10 teams were even thinking about it, they would just draft Love, get a better player for 5 years and save over $40 million dollars.
Top 3? No.Breece at present is probably in the top 15. Maybe? I think his potential is there and He is a productive back.

As Gram noted above this is the perfect situation for the Jets.
Mougey played it smart and didn't throw a ton of cash at the player.
Another reason why I think this GM might be on the ball.
