Jets to cut Eric Decker

Real youth movement. Too bad, we are making some tough cuts


The New York Jets are parting ways with wide receiver Eric Decker and have informed him that the team will either trade or release him this week, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Decker signed a five-year deal worth $36.25 million in 2014 but missed much of the 2016 season due to shoulder and hip surgeries.

He was expected to make $7.25 million next season.

The Jets have cut several veterans during the offseason including Darrell Revis, Nick Mangold and Brandon Marshall. The team released linebacker David Harris earlier in the day after both sides could not reach an agreement on a pay cut.

Good. It's time to rip off the bandaid and see what we got. There's some young talented receivers on this team. Let's see who steps up.

Not onboard with this move at all. The receivers need a veteran in the room, and these young QBs need a veteran on the field. Decker is a pros pro. He's not that expensive. If they trade him, I'd feel a little better about it. But I think this is a mistake.

harris' agent basically said it was a dick move to cut him this late in the process.. i was about to post harris, in all likelihood would not have been cut this late in the process, if not for requiring davis..

much harder to justify the timing of this move though..

aside from that, i kind of like the continued direction of the full bore youth movement..

If you are going to commit to something, go all in. I'm pleased the franchise has a direction.

Yes, yes, yes!!! Let's go Jets, let's go!!! Youth movement is in full throttle effect and I love it. Guess the starting WRs will be Enunwa, Peake and Marshall. Stewart and Hansen will hopefully show some spark, especially Stewart. Question is will Anderson be a factor? If he can his head on straight when he returns?
