There are very few edge rushing 3-4 OLB in FA. And those one's won't see FA.
Jets will take their speed rushers and OL in the draft.
Jet FA will be limited to signing Wilkerson and hopefully Harrison.
Small potatoe(Tier 3) depth signings this year as our Cap Space will be limited.

MacDaddy has 6 picks and a trade chip in FT Wilkerson and Milliner.
Let's see what he can manage.
UDFA is so important to us this yr. Special Teams needs it!!

Agree 99%

Only change I would make is, Milliner will more then likely be a Jet. Trading him saves nothing against the cap, and right now he has very little trade value, if any. You never know, maybe the kid can stay healthy this year. He does have talent. CB will be on a list of things for Macc to do.

I'm also thinking you can put smith on the list of traded players. Think he has some value on the market. I'm the Jets I start out asking for a 4th, and ultimately take a 6th. Take a late round QB, or an UDFA QB, (Sudfeld?) Lb'er in 1st (Jaylon Smith or Spence) an OT in the second.

The two best linebackers are Miller and Trevathan. Miller is not going anywhere in Denver and Trevathan is a nice three down player that will get overpaid this off season and not fit into the Jets budget. OLB will probably come from the 1st, 2nd round.

Nick Perry OLB Green Bay
Tahir Whitehead OLB/ILB Detroit

Whitehead is extremely interesting...

Nick Perry? Man I hope not. Situational pass rusher who only has 12 sack in 4 years? Has difficulty setting the edge, and just doesn't look like he has much strength for a man his size.

I'd rather bring back Coples. Better pass rusher, sets the edge much better then Perry. Still not a very good football player, but I;'d take him over Perry

Situational pass rusher

of his 46 career games he started 16, for a role player he has established decent stats... Am I saying sign him to be a starter, no but with the right group of people maybe he can take his game to the next level... he is the type of person that we could sign low risk, high reward with his age he could step into as a situational player that can take the next step... Calvin Pace isn't getting any younger and we need bodies, Perry could be that guy... He has coverage ability most outside linebackers don't possess...

I also rather have Coples but not as a linebacker, thought he should of stayed as a defensive lineman where he is best suited to play... it is what it is, moving on have limited cap space so some underrated, or undervalued players could be signed and with the right defensive scheme they can overachieve especially behind our extraordinary defensive line unit...

If he's going to be a minimum salary warm body type, with a lot of if's and maybe's, sure why not. Mostly that's the types the jets will be signing with their salary cap situation. Unless they do a house cleaning.

The way it was presented ," they could be targets this off season" it sounded like, well, they were actual targets that were center pieces of the off season strategy.

If Perry is being signed as a roster filler role player, why not? If he's being signed to an actual contract, with any guaranteed money, as a replacement for pace, who at 35 has been more productive over the last 3 years. pass.

To come up with an adequate pass rusher to compliment Mauldin, and this D line long term, the place to look for that is in the draft. There is even a good chance that the BAP at 20 will be an edge rusher.

A decent LT is who I would be targeting in FA. Behind Brick, there is 0 on the team. That's easier said then done. Okung is probably to expensive, and probably will be resigned. Penn, and Barnes, both in their 30's, Kelvin Beachum is who I would be Targeting.

Don't know what Pitt's intention on him will be, and suspect he won't be cheap. It's a matter of how expensive he will be. The Jets are about to have a stare down with D'Brick. Beachum is 26, coming off IR, Alejandro Villanueva re markedly did a very good job as his replacement. That's who I'd target

The Jets will focus on the draft to build this team that is GM Macc's skill set...

One year deals will be the prominently this free agent season, unless they can find a starter free agent for key positions...
Only positions could see getting multiple year deal(s) are right guard, running back, corner, and punter... the rest will be role players trying to either prove themselves or fill a short term need until the team can fill it through the draft...

As for 0 on the team, you are wrong there as the coaching staff is really high on Ben Ijalana not a fan favorite but he is coveted by the coaches which is most important... They had him inactive on the active roster to work on his footwork all season, and was a reserve in case someone got injured (Brick or Breno)...

And you know this how?

Because he has been on the team for 3 years? Kerley has been on the team 5 years. I don't think they are particularly crazy about him.

If your making a definitive statement like "you are wrong", on something that is clearly an opinion, and actually all of your statements in the Post are definitive. No room for discussion. They're correct........ I'm assuming you have some inside info on this.

Please share the inside stuff. Guys had 3 reps in 3 years, at either tackle. Can't imagine why they would pay all that money to a questionable player like Breno if Ijalano is a lion, loved by the CS. Just waiting for his opportunity to spring out.

I'll rephrase my statement. IMO Ijalano is a JAG, who is on the team because he's cheap, there isn't anyone else. If Ijalano is so loved by the CS, and versatile he can play either side, I'm sure Breno will be released ASAP, Ijalano will take his spot immediately, and of course Qvale will remain the RT back up.

Heck, why even do that? If Ijalano " is coveted by the coaches" I'm sure Bowles and Macc won't have any problem cutting Brick and saving 10.4 + million or so.

Oh crap, they can't do that Ijalano is a FA that they didn't take care of. You would think they would have protected this valuable commodity .

Maybe, just maybe you are wrong
