Ran a couple of draft simulators and this is what I came up with. Only issue is no CB, but I like the OL and WR selections.

1 - Wirfs (RT)
2 - Hennessey (C)
3a - Edwards (WR)
3b - Weaver (Edge)
4 - VJefferson (WR
5 - Taylor (OT)

Would be only fitting for us to replace one temple owl with another...

Looks like we may lose out on RA in free agency so in the draft we can target Isaiah Wright whom may be a little more dynamic then RA... Wright is known for his return abilities but can be that vertical threat we always wanting and hoped RA would develop into...

There is another late round option, if we are in the market for two receivers... Aaron Parker from Rhode Island, should see his stock increase from a priority free agent to a worthy 6th/7th round selection...

Guarantee prior to the Senior Bowl the Jets were high on Pitt Corner Dane Jackson who is still a top day 3 prospect that is a physical cover corner someone willing to tackle and has enough talent to play out on the island...

There are now reports that along with Dane Jackson another Rutgers defensive back is on the team's radar, Damon Hayes who converted from corner to coverage safety... That being if the Jets decide to move Marcus Maye to gain draft capitol... Hayes is a solid round 4, selection...

Another corner on the team's radar is Arizona State's Chase Lucas another physical run defender that has the ability to play the pass...

Filling needs are few and far between depending on how Joe Douglas rates each position/player will determine how to view the draft ideals for the team... A former O lineman, we would hope he knows that addressing this porous line should be priority... With so many returning to school the pickings went from fruitful to slim pickings, so targeting certain spots is important as they can complete the overhaul next year's draft...

We hope that this year's rookie Chuma Edoga will be a part of the plans of the overhaul rebuild but because he is part of last regimes plan he may be moved for a late round pick...

Jets can go after two tackles in this draft or rebuild the interior with two guards and a center...

Technically the team can get away with a new center even with veteran Jonotthan Harrison already in place and under contract...

Re-signing Kelvin Beachum looks like a no-brainer but does he have what is needed for another full season?

The real question is there potential in free agency to patch work a guard or two and a tackle?

We all agree, we believe that Shell could excel if retained as an interior guy, re-signing Alex Lewis could be progressive to fill the two guard positions... Lewis did well not great but did hold up well enough to earn at least another contract at least a short term deal maybe 2 or 3 years being last year was his 4th year off his rookie contract...

Shell & Lewis if not mistaken will both be 28 next season... If Beachum is brought back along with Harrison the Jets have 4 potential starters but will need a right tackle to complete the line for next season... JD could go after Vaitai right tackle from the Eagles who will also turn 28 next season is entering free agency as a UFA, making him a prime target for this squad...

As much as I believe this unit could be successful opens the door to draft a center, and maybe one other prospect either tackle or guard to groom behind these starters...

Fans been begging for an elite edge rusher for years but with Gregg Williams and his style defense do we really need one now?

Everyone and I mean everyone shows the ability to be vital pass rushers in his style defense and yes I know if he had a new shiny toy to play with would make his job easier but doesn't mean he needs one with players like Jordan Jenkins (hopefully re-signed), Tarell Basham under contract, John Franklin-Myers, Kyle Phillips all show the innate ability to be effective pass rushers while showing the ability to stuff the run...

Not to mention how they utilize Jamal Adams this season he was definitely helped fill the void...

Getting back C.J. Mosley next year and possibly keeping Avery Williamson on this squad will only boost the ability of the above stated DE/LBs under contract...

Let's say the team chooses to fill some needs with 4th, 5th and 6th round picks with CB, WR, SAF:
Prospects in question:
  • Dane Jackson, Pitt CB
  • Chase Lucas, ASU CB
  • Isaiah Wright Temple WR
  • Aaron Parker Rhode Island WR
  • Damon Hayes Rutgers FS/CB
  • Miles Dorn UNC, FS
  • Damir Hamlin Pitt SAF

leaving the prime 1st round pick, 2nd and two thirds to fill this year's team needs...

Edge in this scenario is not necessarily a need but an option if a certain prospect falls to them...

Regardless on how this plays out the Jets with the 11th pick can go many different ways:

  • Jets can splurge for a formidable game changing receiver...
  • Jets can get greedy and reach for any player they want, EDGE or CB...
  • Jets can go safe route and take that much needed tackle (blindside)...
  • Jets can also entertain offers to trade down - stockpile picks to fill all holes throughout the roster...

so to this point if am right this is what majority of Jets fans are hoping:

  • Jerry Judy vs CeeDee Lamb
  • Jeff Okudah vs Grant Delpit
  • Andrew Thomas vs Austin Jackson vs Mekhi Becton
  • Isaiah Simmons vs Chase Young
  • Derrick Brown vs Javon Kinlaw
Anyone of these above prospects would be ideal for the 11th overall pick but really which one is the Biggest Need?

Biggest need will be revealed in Free Agency. Really, If Robby A. goes away, WR is our biggest need. Even if we re-sign Beachum If we don't sign a marquee OL ( like Conklin). OL is our biggest need. As much as i want a Pass Rusher and a new version of Revis Island. The Jets Biggest needs are on Offense....

Out of those players, the only ones I would like at 11 are Thomas, Okudah and Simmons, in that order.
I don’t think Delpit and A. Jackson will/should go that high.
Saw a mock draft where the Raiders and Colts go back to back QBs at 12 & 13.
The Jets would need to get in on that and play one of those teams to trade up to 11.
Get extra and badly needed picks.
This draft being so Oline and WR heavy, the Jets should be trading back anyway, theY need a lot of help at a lot of places.

"IF" they trade Marcus Maye, then having two safeties in Delpit and Adams could be scary with Gregg Williams orchestrating assignments, just saying...

As for Okudah, he is going to be good but not great at this level... Scheme will be very important into how he develops and our scheme not for him...

Thomas is arguably the best power tackle in this draft, but our scheme demands athleticism which both Jackson from USC and Bechton from Louisville fit better...

I could break this down all day, but in the end it comes down whomever we draft can we incorporate the prospect rather than trying to fit the talent into the current scheme will determine if we are successful this draft...

Like I said there is no reason to reach for a WR in this draft, there is players on day 3 that could develop into something special remember RA was day 4 a priority free agent signing undrafted...

If the draft is done right we can fill a major need with the first four picks and replace departures with the final three...

Part time receiver leaves in FA isn't a big loss... Vyncint Smith showed he can be that guy and he is basically under contract for the next two seasons... Braxton Berrios showed he can be a capable option... Not to mention we have Crowder under contract, and if not mistaken we have Jeff Smith a project player under contract and Josh Malone likely to receive a RFA tender... Not dire need so grabbing one or two in the back end of the draft can fill the void especially if one is a dynamic vertical option...

With or without Beachum OL will always be at the top of the needs list until we draft youth for the entire line... But how they go about it will be key... To improve the run game right now would be working the interior of the line through this draft... Same sentiment if we want to keep Sam as the primary option and be a pass happy team then drafting two tackles would primary option this draft unfortunately this draft is slim pickings for that game plan...

Corner, last year we got lucky and maybe this year we can get lucky again by picking an underrated player and develop him into a phenom, with this defense and DC pulling the strings...

I think you are in a dream world if you think Shell, Lewis, Harrison and Beachum are our future on the Offensive Line. This is a deep draft for what we need. Whether we retain Anderson or not we can get a good WR with picks 1 thru 4. OL is priority #1. A OT and a Center should go 1 & 2

If it is true they are all in on Conklin then opens the door for the Jets to draft both a future left tackle and center like I hoped they would do from beginning of last season... But to start the season with this lineup:

LT Beachum -- LG Alex Lewis -- C Jonnothan Harrison -- RG Brandon Shell -- RT Jack Conklin

I believe everyone would be on board as an improvement for Sam Darnold...

Regardless who they draft at both the LT & OC Position no one would be worried about rushing them into the frame until they are ready...

I’ve been saying moving shell to RG. But we have to re-sign him to try the experiment. So that is a risk, hopefully a risk worth taking
