Joe Douglas: 2020 Roster Mock Moves/Cuts

Post this season the Jets will enter 2020 free agency with $54 M +++ to play with... The +++ could make this more by making these roster moves:

• First or Second day of new league year cut ties with Corner Trumaine Johnson ($12 M Dead Loss spread over 3 years) initial savings $11 M...
• Trade or Release Kelechi Osmele and instant savings of $11.7 M no dead loss...
• Trade or Release Brian Winters and instant savings of $7.5 M no dead loss...
• Trade or Release Darryl Roberts before roster bonus kicks in and savings of $6 M no dead loss...
• Trade or Release Jonotthan Harrison save $2.25 M no dead loss...
• Trade or Release Josh Bellamy save $2.25 M no dead loss...

Doing these roster moves will increase the spending cap to roughly $95 M to play with... Haven't looked at the free agent market what may be, but now knowing there will be enough options in dollars to play with, just maybe Douglas can finagle some late round picks absorbing some talent overloaded contracts... Or strike it well in free agency while plugging developmental options through the draft...

There is one other savings could be made but I don't like it and don't think they will make this move but the Jets could save $6.5 M with $2 M dead loss on Avery Williamson... Have to guess this will all depend on the development on Cashman and how they feel about the depth behind the starters with players like Neville Hewitt whom has been a bright spot in our lack luster front seven...
