Joe Douglas report card & future

1) Ok he is in his first full season & has Gase as his HC.
2) Only one draft under his belt.
3) I am not saying to fire him
4) He may have long range plans & this year is a toss year.
5) He made a good trade for some Db we had.
6) He picked a good tackle.
7) He has a good past.

BUT

We have the bottom roster in the NFL right now (backed by Chris simms).. He could have brought in some help for Darnold at WR this year. Yes there are injuries but i have seen the Cardinals bring in help for my other QB. I mean this team has no talent on it but maybe a few players. As I see it we are only the 18th youngest team in the NFL. so we can't say hey we are young & building. As far as the young LT How many other GM.s would have picked him? How many of you would have picked him.

For some reason I have to question our GM big time now. Next year with a pocket full of cash, a new coach (?) & lots of money to spend we need to see a real team on the field........but will players only come here in FA to retire? Will we need to spend extra money to get players here, I don't see FA,s that want to break down our door.

Lets play a game. In 50 words or less say what you would tell a FA to get them to play for this team.

On top of this. Billy boy may have another five years in NE, I like the Miami coach & The Bills look to be getting better. We are at the bottom looking up. & we have nothing but a LT, Maybe a QB, &???????????.

We have nothing & we have no future as of today.

Now things can change fast in the NFL but we need many race cars to show up next year,

well. we have been begging for offensive linemen for years and got nothing. now we have 1 offensive lineman and nothing else. things are looking up? we got what we asked for? we are the Jets

Douglas hard balled the Johnsons into giving him over double the salary he was offered and double the years(6). If hes tied to Gase, we can expect Gase to get a long extension this off-season.

last year they praised him because how the team finished (6-2)...
this year off to (0-2) doesn't help his circumstances, he should of continued off that (6-2) but has gone in reverse instead... Just because he signed a four year deal doesn't guarantee him a third year... Yes he will get paid, but being the coach is another thing...

Put it this way, Quinnen Williams, Kyle Phillips even tho they are not offense they will use them as enough evidence that Gase should return...

But it the CEO & GM say well you are offense and the offense even with injuries couldn't do a damn thing, then he will be gone... Unfortunately there are 14 more games, so we have to wait it out...

If Joe does his job then these players next draft have to be in consideration...

We need to draft a left guard to pair up with Becton on the left side no bigger or badass than Tennessee's Trey Smith... A tackle that will be dominate on the inside... Ferocious like Becton and also athletic to block down field...

With this pick would move Cameron Clark to right guard...

Following up the Trey Smith draft pick, going after another great left tackle that would dominate on the right side would be Wisconsin's Walker Little... Would give us 4 power blockers with light feet...

the last piece can be gotten in round 3 grabbing Alec Lindstrom from Boston College to be the future starter at center... Alec''s brother Chris Lindstrom plays for Atlanta Falcons...

These three selections would revamped the OL in two years under Joe Douglas...

None of the new picks will need to start day one but gives us flexibility moving forward...

Getting Walker would Leave us with a little to be desired on the OL

We need to consider Joe Douglas has been equally bad in putting together this team. He let Robby walk. The only guy with true chemistry with Sam. Kalil was worst decision ever. McGovern has looked awful. Van Roten is definitely a one year stop gap. Becton looks great!! Fant might be considered serviceable. Letting Harrison go was a poor choice. Great locker room guy to have for depth even if its best he's not a starter. Most of Joe Douglas' moves have not panned out. His choices at WR have been Idzik like. His CB choices are plain terrible. All his draft picks are injured except a punter which will happen because he is going to get worn out.

So his only successes to me have been a punter. A left tackle. And getting 2 first round picks and a 3rd or Adams. Thats how the Jets have the worst roster in team history. Thats not rebuilding. Thats making horrible decisions at the beginning of a rebuild which will delay future success by years. One full year of JD has not been good at all.
