Joe Douglas a former offensive lineman in the league focused first on filling the holes in the trenches... Not every signing was sexy but drafting one beast at left tackle shows he knows talent... Cameron Clark jury still out... Signing McGovern, Fant and Van Roten so far questionable but with no preseason and a limited off season the line has yet to gel the right way...
Thankfully for JD the defensive line was already intact, after this season he may have to add one or two more guys to it while continuing to develop talent long term through the draft for the offensive line..
The next position group that he will have focus on is wide receiver... Not only receiver but address the lack of talent at tight end...
Keep surrounding Sam Darnold with talent to protect him and work with him in the passing attack...
Our running backs right now questionable would have to realize Gore is a one year gap player and likely gone onto his next team next year... Le'Veon Bell is also likely to be dealt... But that will leave us with this year's rookie, RFA Josh Adams and RFA Kalen Ballage... Wouldn't be shocked if they draft another mid round prospect...
Seems like a large task, but there is no excuses to keep Adam Gase if he isn't fired before then...
Defensively we need to fill in voids at corner then safety... I fear Marcus Maye will test free agency so will Brian Poole... Not to mention Bradley McDougald... Drafting Ashtyn Davis, Bryce Hall then signing Javelin Guidry, Zane Lewis, Shyheim Carter give us a base to work with... Blessaun Austin has the technique to build upon and needs to continue to be consistent and he will fine... Quincy Wilson will be a RFA, but players like Arthur Maulet and Nate Hairston are free agents and would be stupid to return...
Linebackers are questionable... CJ Mosley opted out this season but needs to be dealt... Blake Cashman is glass man and needs to be cut... Neville Hewitt shows no matter what he is good not great but good and a good player in the center is needed... Avery Williamson like Bradley McDougald are running for the hills this free agency... Drafting someone in day 3 should be in the cards... Unless able to find someone in free agency...
Jordan Jenkins wants and deserves to be here but he may too leave in free agency... Tarrell Basham like Jenkins may indeed leave in free agency... Jabari Zuniga looks like he can develop into a starter... Drafting someone to pair him with should be in the cards this upcoming draft...
Frankie Luvu may have what it takes to start next year entering RFA... Likely to sign a free agent or two for depth...
Our team has needs but nothing out of the realm for Joe Douglas to continue to rebuild... A lot of cap space after this season, and if he is frugal in his spending trying to find comparable pieces he won't be scrutinized for signing players like Trumaine Johnson, etc...
