Joe was a guy I think we all were rooting for to be our Reggie Bush steal when he was drafted out of USC. Felt he got trashed early when he threw up after I think his first practice. Unfair expectations on him maybe, being compared to Bush, because they came from the same program. Sad, senseless, tragic ending to his life at such a young age
so sad
McKnight was one of those guys. All the talent and physical tools to be a star but he just did not like playing football. The irony was that at the end of training camp in 2008 the Jets had to decide which of two running backs to keep going into the season. The choice was between McKnight and Danny Woodhead and the Jets of course decided to keep McNight. They cut Woodhead and eventually signed him to the practice squad but they finally just cut him and he signed with the Patriots. We all know who had a better career.
McKnight after being drafted came to camp overweight and out of shape.
