Wow, well we saw this coming to some extent. Didn’t know if he was going to be fired, forced to quit or do it on his own will. The players reaction to this situation probably had a lot or all to do with it. He knew he lost the team and there was no coming back from that!

I met Chucky about 8 years ago at a former job in a "customer-employee" setting...super nice guy!!! absolutely one of the nicest guy's guys you can hope to meet!
he totally appreciated the fact he was a star, acknowledged every single person who made eye contact with him, and he made you feel like your job was important.

he might have been a back to back Champ with OAK had it not been for the Tom Brady T(f)UCK Rule.
it was "his team" Callahan replaced that went to the SB against TB.
OAK should have been to the SB in consecutive years with him as coach.
Last thought...Dungy gets that praise a lot, but he had to go to Indy to have an OC on the field to make up for his lacking as a complete HC.
Jets my 1 Team with Raiders as my 2 since 1969. So when I say he stinks as a coach Im speaking of the Raiders and his time there. Players didnt like him either and in Tampa and what he did to Simms at QB was something else. I know Raiders Owner liked him ,but I dont think Al Davis did....at all
Chunkie is a dirtbag. Sprinkled Adam Gase level offense to a Defense with multiple HOFers and it was enough. Bill Muir that season got the non-existent running game going late and into postseason...it was the key to TB moving the ball because Brad Johnson makes Teddy Bridgewater look like a downfield bomber in comparison.
I also met a member of the TB SB team and in that lockerroom Chunkie was not liked -two faced was the term. Told you what you needed to hear and then something else behind your back. His drafting quickly torpedoed that team from winning more. He was and always has been a clown who parlayed the resurrection of Rich Gannon's career into stealing money for nearly 20 years

According to the Times, Gruden wrote emails over the course of several years in which he “denounced the emergence of women as referees, the drafting of a gay player and the tolerance of players protesting during the playing of the national anthem.”
The emails were written while Gruden was an analyst at ESPN, the Times reported. Gruden was head coach of the Raiders from 1998-2001, then coached the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2002-08 before being an analyst at ESPN from 2009-17.
He has been the Raiders’ coach since 2018.
According to the Times, Gruden used homophobic and misogynistic language on multiple occasions to describe NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, he felt the league had pressured the then-St. Louis Rams to draft openly gay player Michael Sam in 2014, and he said that player Eric Reid should be fired for protesting during the national anthem (Reid was the second NFL player to do so after Colin Kaepernick, among other incidents).
This follows the report last week from The Wall Street Journal that said Gruden used a racist trope to describe Smith’s face and questioned his intelligence.
