I am not rooting for our team to fail but this team is not gonna win a championship or be setup for long term success if we pass on a QB this year and go with McCown. In my opinion with McCown we will be 6-10 next year 8-8 at best but reality is McCown won't duplicate this year next year and we will be 3-13 and everything gets blown up and that is my expectation if we don't make moves to get a franchise guy at QB to build sustainable success. I always root for us to win but my comments are based on Reality..
And yes I would rather not clean house again... I think picking the right QB to fit the system will go a long way of settling the franchise and keep moving in the direction of sustainable success.. McCown does not provide that. So draft a QB
I have to agree with this. This really says it all. McCown played out of his mind in 2017. That was probably his very best year as a pro. To think he can repeat that performance over and over again would be ridiculous. There's a reason why McCown has always been a journeyman. It's pretty reasonable to think his statistics will easily fall in 2018. He's damn near 40 years old now.
So, yeah, if we do not have a young guy working behind McCown we'll be doomed. McCown will fall from grace and take the Jets with him otherwise. 3-13, 2-14?? Those are probable records for the Jets in 2018 unless they start to make some bold moves.
I don't want to jump to any conclusions, we still haven't gone through FA or the draft, but without any big moves this off season we will be worse than in 2017..,
