We've seen Week 10 come and go. The Jets/Raiders game's logged in, as is their 4 and 5 record thus far. There's been all sorts of palaver about what's wrong with the team and what can be done to improve the win/loss ratio.

So, just for kicks, try this. Look back over the Jets games and see how many scoring plays were nullified by penalties. Then see how the Jets would have fared had those plays been flag-free. Then check the hypothetical win/loss ratio.

The operative word, I think you'll find, is discipline.

It was informed by fact that all the Jets have been able to manage on offense is kicks for 3, not TD's for 6, 7 or 8.

This 100%! Very tough to do this unless you are doing film review and can clearly see that the penalty had ZERO effect on the actual play.

Is there anyplace where they have meaningful football stats like this? Maybe catch up a bit to baseball in this regard?

I'm surprised how misrepresentative football stats are. Examples: Wilson dumps 3 yd pass to Hall who runs 50 yds and the QB had a great play throwing a 50 yd TD pass. Q gets 2B teamed every play, sacks go to the guys who are free to run at the QB and Q is having a bad year
