As an owner of several exotic cars, I don't agree that they should not be produced.
There are several countries with derestricted highways where these cars can legally be driven to their potential. And here in the states you can legally do track days and autocross events and have a great time with these cars.
At the end of the day, you could push a Honda, Subaru, etc.. to nearly 150 mph, so the vehicle isn't the problem, it's the irresponsible twit driving it that is clearly the problem.
no one is talking about how irresponsible it is to manufacture these cars to begin with
technology that outstrips the ability to manage it
get in car like this, especially without a manual transmission, step on the gas and it handles so well that you have confidence that you can react to danger in time
Humans are dumb ... really dumb
I agreeTrack days are one thing, McLarens on the Taconic is another. To push a Honda, etc. that fast you have to do so intentionally and the car lets you know it's being pushed. The ridiculo HP cars are just so good and smooth that it's easy to forget that you are going too fast to react to road changes and traffic conditions. You may have the skills to operate these but very very few people do. Your "irresponsible twit" comment is spot on. I do not want one of these jerks dangering me, and a lot of exotic car owners fall in this catagory.
The countries with unrestricted speed limits are all wising up that people are getting killed for no reason. Autostrada and Autobahn both have set limits where there were no before.
Sorry, I guess agree to disagree here. It might be regional or maybe I would have liked to see more James Dean and Paul Walker movies
I think the DA is going to do the complete opposite. Clark County is getting really tough on DUIs. I think the goal will be to make an example of Ruggs and hammer him . He is facing multiple felonies. Dui causing Death ,Dui causing serious bodily harm (his passenger) , 2 reckless driving charges and possession of a firearm while intoxicated.Unfortunately you see a lot of this racing these days on the highways. I live between DC and Baltimore and travel quite a bit on both beltways which have become high speed obstacle courses for the reckless/selfish idiots. You have to check and re-check any time changing lanes because they race through traffic using all lanes including breakdown lanes for sport. I could care less if they crash, but most times they cause collateral damage to innocent drivers. Same goes for pocket rocket motorcycles. Can't imagine if alcohol was added to that mix. Total disregard for oneself and everyone around them. This kid needs to be made an example of, but my guess is that some DA will find something in Ruggs' background that excuses him for such reckless behavior.
actually 46 years but judge is sympathetic instead of $1 M bond marked it $150 K sorry but damn...
gee Big Moe got over 50 years for being a Jet fanI think the DA is going to do the complete opposite. Clark County is getting really tough on DUIs. Looking at a minimum of 6 years now with a maximum of over 50.
That's because a visiting Cop who was recently arrested on the same charges was released on $100 K bond.actually 46 years but judge is sympathetic instead of $1 M bond marked it $150 K sorry but damn...
Yeah we are definitely going to have to agree to disagree. I own cars with nearly 1000hp and they drive 55 just as well as they do 100mph. And to be clear, yes it is way easier to exceed safe speeds in these cars, but anyone telling me "they don't realize what they are doing or forgot how fast they are going" shouldn't be behind the wheel of any car.Track days are one thing, McLarens on the Taconic is another. I sold traffic radar/laser after we sold our family business. Attended many highway safety meetings. Cars do drive too fast now a days & there is no reason for these cars to be on the street,,,,But I do agree that the drivers are the ones that push it. The speedometer is there for a reason, if you can't use it you shouldn't be driving. And anyone telling me "I didn't realize I was bursting pass 100 with my foot planted to the floor and the G forces shoving you back into the seat" is just full of shit!
Autobahn has always had "sections" of restricted speeds. They restrict near every town as well as during peak traffic hours. They derestrict in specific sections only.
Yes she died in a car accident running from paparazzi's. Wreckless speeding and driving to get away from a camera! How foolish is that? She was in no danger, yet died to evade people taking pictures????I sold traffic radar/laser after we sold our family business. Attended many highway safety meetings. Look at Princess Diana...she was killed in a traffic accident........Alcohol, speeding & no seat belts.....If one of the three were on her side.....just one of the three she may be alive today.....but in her case three strikes & she was out.

Wow great minds think alikeI've seen Douglas running faster to a buffet.
That's for you Butterscotch....![]()
No communist here lol. Just make a bigger fine. But the roads we have are not designed for these speedsYes she died in a car accident running from paparazzi's. All cars have improved, power keeps increasing, creature comforts keep increasing, suspension developments keep increasing, which makes all cars easier to drive, and faster.
Saying we should stop making these cars and detune them is outside of anyone's rights. What's next???? Put a 55mph governor on everyone's vehicles "since people are too stupid and reckless to obey the speed limit"? Maybe just force everyone to Uber (via certified safe Uber drivers) for their own safety???
That sounds a ton like a communist regime that needs to control their people for their own good![]()
we agree 100% on thatNo communist here lol. Just make a bigger fine. But the roads we have are not designed for these speeds
