seems to me, hammer & E put a nice bow on a extremely sensitive thread..

it also seems to me, perhaps the best course of action would be to leave this one alone at this point..

we are still too small a forum to divide ourselves with polar opposite politial threads .. in my view anyway.....

I hate when threads like this pop up because I know it usually heads into the wrong direction and people get offended.

Here's a question for those that are denouncing Kaepernick's actions.

Why do you have such a connection to America? Why do you love this country?

Colin does not have that same connection. It's hard for him to feel that way given the circumstances and hate that his people have dealt with over the years.

I love America so I hate that he feels this way and can't pay tribute to my country's flag, however, part of what makes America great is the fact that we allow people to show such displeasure publicly.

This country has a race issue and it seems like we can no longer can kick the can down the road. It will be addressed. All these acts black lives matter, Kaepernick, Trump's craziness are adding fuel to the fire. Let's just hope it gets sorted properly and without violence.

Damn, i'm usually optimistic but this scares me.

IBTL . . .

Why do we have a "race issue"? What is this "hate that his people have dealt with over the years"?

Please enlighten me, because I believe MLK would be turning over in his grave if he saw what his platform has become . . .

EDIT:

Just saw 13's post and and will gladly walk away.

Having said that, I actually appreciated how civil the debate has been . . .

Very well said Ham. Yes - there are instances of Rogue thug cops.
There are also instances of school teachers molesting students, preists molesting alter boys, train engineers drinking on the job and causing cotastrophies. There are instances of CFO's stealing large funds, truck drivers driving half asleep or wired on speed, ect ect ect
Every profession has its share of assholes. But its dirtbag thugs like Micheal Brown that get the media sympathy vote? Go on youtube or facebook and search the video of him beating the hell out of some old guy.

I know first hand from what I've seen myself its harder for white males to get company promotions. Reason why? More and more companies want to give "Protected Groups" first consideration. This means women and minorities.
I see that in my company as well as friends of mine in other companies.
And I sure the fuck aren't imagining this.
I also see my company giving any underachieving minority WAAAAY more rope
than a white male would be given before disciplinary action is taken.
And as for educational financial aid?? Dont even get me started on that subject..
All I know is I'll be paying on my daughter's student loans until I'm pushing daisies and watching certain minority groups just getting the free ride. (That's my lesson learned for working all my life)

Yet with all this, 50 years, 8 years with a black president, black CFO's, black mayors, black police commissioners, ect, ect, there is STILL this "MAJOR PROBLEM"
in America of the White occupation oppressing blacks.

As for BLM? I'm not even getting started. A terrorist group built on a lie that find it more sensible to riot, loot, block traffic, hate and endanger innocents and law enforcement rather than getting a fucking Job and being a constructive citizen

As for the Anthem? Huh - why worry about that when we have a First "Lady" spotted and photgraphed "texting" while the anthem is playing?

What's going to happen this weekend? 15 Stadiums full of about 60-70 thousand people (with alcohol included). Of course your going to have those "Oppressed" feeling folks sitting and disrespecting the anthem, and some drunken good ol' boy ready with the words or flung beer bottle. Fights get started and people just there to see the game and security personell are in danger. And this is before the opening frigging kickoff.
But that's Kap's harmless protest that is his right and "who are we to judge"?
Fuck him and any numbnuts that defends him.

I dont really like Francessa - but I think he nailed it yesterday. Team owners have a responsiblity to remind these players they are wearing HIS uniform, on HIS Payroll and standing on HIS field. You will stand for the anthem or you will not be part of this team.

There's a fair amount of anger on both sides and your right - it is getting scary.

Colin Kaepernick is what the old Soviet apparatchiks used to call a 'useful idiot'

Sadly he has plenty of company, idealistic leftists who are being used to destabilize society. These morons live in the freest society in the history of the world, nowhere else on earth have women and minorities been granted such freedom, but they have been brainwashed to believe they are the victims of oppression, as if we are still living under Jim Crow or worse.

By no means am I suggesting our society is perfect, sure there are rogue cops, thugs with badges (Clockwork Orange) or weak men who naturally gravitate towards the power one can exert over others in a police uniform, but this is a relatively small number of cops and that needs to be emphasized and re-emphasized, lest the police force as a whole is unfairly stigmatized. Thats what fair-minded people are objecting too. We know that BLM and the SJW's are completely blowing this thing out of proportion and in the process they are stigmatizing some of the best and bravest among us, people who put their lives on the line every day, often times to protect black people in the inner cities, particularly women, children and the elderly, the most vulnerable people in these neighborhoods who are being preyed upon by a ruthless element of sociopaths ... which I saw firsthand growing up in Alphabet City, not the gentrified and yuppified Alphabet City you see now, but the dystopian Alphabet City Hollywood made movies about in the 1970's ... if you removed the cops (and Mafia) from that neighborhood, the most vulnerable would have been left to the mercy of the merciless.

But I digress. Point being, this whole BLM thing was built on a lie. It was built on the premise that Michael Brown was assassinated by a white cop in cold blood, while he was literally in the act of surrendering ("Hands Up, Don't Shoot!!"), and that turned out to be a complete lie, not according to Fox News or the conservative media, but according to Eric Holder's DOJ following an extensive investigation, where they concluded "Hands Up, Don't Shoot" NEVER HAPPENED. To the contrary, after interviewing a number of eyewitnesses off the record so they could speak freely without fear of intimidation and retaliation (i.e. without fear of being killed), they concluded that indeed Michael Brown was the aggressor and the cop acted in self defense, the same Michael Brown who hours earlier literally strong-armed a sales clerk at a convenience store, so you can see he was a thug and a bully.

That said, you gotta be to the left of Fidel Castro to think for one second that Eric Holder's DOJ had any kind of agenda to protect a rogue cop who assassinated a young black man in cold blood, without provocation, as BLM continues to depict Brown's death till this day. If there was even an ounce of evidence that supported the BLM version of events that day, Holder would have been all too happy to validate it. So the entire BLM movement was built on a lie, which is not to suggest there are not REAL instances of police brutality or worse, but the movement wasn't borne on, for example, the Eric Garner case, in which case all people of good will should be rightfully appalled, that a man should lose his life over selling loose cigarettes! But BLM does not even emphasize Eric Garner because THEY KNOW thats a case where whites and blacks of good will can all agree something terribly egregious went down, and that is NOT the point of BLM, they DO NOT want a consensus, they deliberately choose cases like Brown and Trayvon, thugs who were looking for trouble and found it, because they want this thing to be divided along racial and ideological lines. Thats also why they don't approach this as a problem of a few rouge cops, but as a 'systemic' problem of racism in the police force. Again, because they know the latter approach will keep us divided along racial and ideological lines.

So, coming full circle, the real driving force behind BLM are committed Marxists who are deliberately trying to destabilize our society, and they are doing this by manipulating minorities and using tools like Colin Kaepernick and various other 'activists' to stir the passions of well-meaning black folks. Its ideological subversion and it goes back decades.

Thanks Bigmoe, but if you really want to understand whats going on, you have to understand Cultural Marxism, not to be confused with classical or traditional Marxism. What you are seeing today with movements like BLM is really just an extension of the 60's/70's cultural revolution. Here is a brief introduction:

I agree.

There is a place for this, and there is a time. But I don't think this is the right time at this place to discuss it. Moving it seems reasonable.

I've seen too many good boards and discussions destroyed by off-topic political arguments.

Black lives matter has been taped chanting things like Kill cops, Kill pigs, fry them up like bacon. THIS, coming from a communist organization no less. As though creating a federal police force (which is what Black Lives Matter wants) would create better relations between cops and black people? It's complete nonsense.

I will trump EVERYTHING they say in 3 words...........

Mo - I have no issue with you starting this thread. Not even a little bit. I actually enjoy all types of discussion and not just sports. Only reason I cringe is because I don't want people to get upset with each other and that is inevitable. I do appreciate how we were able to keep this civil.

Thanks all. I'll move this to off topic.

difference is that your people are not economically oppressed or think they are economically oppressed.

We need to improve education in this country. Once everyone is on an equal playing field in terms of education then everything will be great.

Kaepernick is an unpatriotic creep that deserves everything bad that comes to him. Perhaps a good dose of reality would straighten him out? I'll leave that up to you all to decide? If it was my decision? I know what I'd do.........
