Former University of Central Florida football star Otis Anderson Jr. was shot and killed Monday night in Jacksonville.
Authorities were called to a home in Jacksonville on reports that a person had been shot.
When they arrived, they found Anderson with at least one gunshot wound in the chest and his mother, Denise Glanton Anderson, with multiple graze wounds.
According to Anderson’s mother, her husband, Otis Lee Anderson Sr., was upset and bleeding after being bit by his son’s girlfriend’s dog.
Glanton Anderson said when her son went downstairs to see what happened, he got into an argument with his father. She said she told Anderson Jr. to go back upstairs.
According to the incident report, Glanton Anderson said she then got into a fight with Anderson Sr, who flipped a recliner during the argument.
Anderson Jr. went back downstairs after hearing the recliner being flipped to check on his mother’s well-being, according to an incident report.
Anderson Jr. then got into another argument with his father and it seemed like they were going to fight, his mother told authorities.
The incident report says the pair went in separate directions before meeting back in a kitchen area.
Authorities redacted what Glanton Anderson said happened after the pair met back in the kitchen, however, a detective observed what appeared to be a gunshot wound to Anderson Jr.’s chest and back.
Anderson Sr. is facing a charge of second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder.
