Cut Winters before he gets hurt and sign pro-bowler Warford quickly or even faster than quickly.

Ok, found out why - he's one of the slowest guards in the league. That would be a problem - may not be a scheme fit.

What I read was that the team wanted to save the 7 mil in cap space and they had a viable replacement from the draft. I believe he would be a good fit. In over 900 snaps he had only 6 penalties and allowed only 2 sacks. While he may not be fast it hasn't prevented him from being a 3 time pro bowler.

He has never been the fastest. I think his 40 time when he was a prospect was, well, glacial.

Warford is not fast 5.58 40 time but he still has quick feet able to utilize speed to power, again his speed is more foot quickness but utilizing his girth from the snap is a lot better then half the players on our current OL...

The Saints freed up $7.75 M cutting Warford now but did eat some of his dead money for this season roughly $5 M...

scheme fit:

Van Roten, McGovern & Warford would bring three road graders on the interior...

of course Becton also a road grader with no technique...
Clarke is more fluidity than power...

Hey He was a Pro-Bowl Guard these past three seasons regardless of how slow he is, I would sign him & release Winters...

Outside of the Bears and Texans, teams with needs on the offensive line such as the Bengals, Jets, Colts, Dolphins, and 49ers have expressed interest.

LOL! He wouldn't be signed to run a 40. He needs strength, stability and quickness, depending on the scheme. I don't see this team running too many sweeps, where speed would be a factor. A good coach plays to the strengths of his players, and wouldn't force his players to do things beyond their capabilities. As for lack of speed, we aren't talking about RG 300 here (remember him?).

While athleticism may not be paramount for OL, this offseason has been about building a more athletic OL.

Yes, but in football you must adjust and scheme around your star players. At the end of the day he's a road grader and a Mauler and Drew Brees is still alive; letting me know both Bell and Darnold deserve him.

I agree that you build your scheme around your star players. In this case, though, while Warford is an upgrade, he is not what I would call a star. And you don't invest an entire offseason worth of OL investment in players for one scheme to deviate from that for one other guy.

I trust that JD will go after Warford IF he is a fit, not just because of his name. Besides, we may not be able to sign him because he might be looking for a team closer to championship grade, and the Jets aren't there yet.
