The New York Jets had six selections in the 2015 draft. Here's a closer look at how their picks have contributed:

2015 draft class:

Round/PickNamePosCollege
1/6Leonard WilliamsDEUSC
2/37Devin SmithWROhio State
3/82Lorenzo MauldinOLBLouisville
4/103Bryce PettyQBBaylor
5/152Jarvis HarrisonGTexas A&M
7/223Deon SimonDTNorthwestern St

Starters:
DE Leonard Williams (8 starts), WR Devin Smith (2 starts)

On the cusp: In reality, Leonard Williams is the only true starter, as Devin Smith's two starts occurred when the Jets opened in three-receiver packages. His playing time has been sporadic, but he's a player to watch during the second half of the season. If he can stay healthy and get comfortable in the offense -- problems so far -- he could become a consistent contributor as the third or fourth receiver. The offense needs his speed, but he's raw and needs to be more aggressive. Lorenzo Mauldin won't crack the starting lineup anytime soon, but his role as a situational pass-rusher is expanding.

i

they like:
Only one undrafted rookie has played -- tight end Wes Saxton, who played one game and returned to the practice squad. He needs a lot of polish, but he has the skills to be a pass-catching tight end. He has the most upside of the undrafted players.

My take on class: The Jets are still pinching themselves that Williams fell to them with the sixth pick. A Day 1 starter because of Sheldon Richardson's early-season suspension, Williams hasn't disappointed. He's a big, strong interior lineman with surprising athleticism. He gets caught out of position at times because he's still learning to read blocking schemes, but he can win one-on-one battles because of his power. He's not a dynamic pass-rusher (one sack), but he'll improve over time. Smith has developed slower than expected -- the one negative of the draft class. After a slow start, Mauldin is gaining momentum, flashing potential as an edge rusher. As expected, the bottom three picks haven't played. Grade: B-minus

Mel Kiper’s take on class: I had Williams ranked as the No. 1 player in the draft, and I respect the Jets taking him even when Kevin White was available and many fans wanted them to select a WR. Williams has been as good as advertised. I think Smith will be good if he can stay healthy. The biggest question is can he become a bigger part of the offense and take on more routes?

The Jets addressed the WR position in FA. Remember Eric Decker and Brandon Marshall? Those guys are both very good WR's. Devin Smith and Stephen Hill were both drafted in the 2nd round. Yes, Hill was a bust and Smith is looking iffy, but the statement that the Jets have ignored the WR position couldn't be further from the truth.

I've got to give this class at least a B+. Williams has had some hic ups but IMO, in the long run will be a Pro-Bowler. His snaps have reduced since Richardsons return, but the kid has looked solid. Some excellent games, and some not so much. With the contract situation of Mo and Snacks, and Richardson's off field issues, A+ pick.

I had mixed feelings on Devin Smith in the 2nd. So far not contributing at all. he has had injury problems so I'll give him an inc. at this point.

Mauldin was some what of a project coming in. Then had some injuries. Still green, and not getting as many reps as I think he should, but last couple of weeks he has shown something the Jets desperately need........ A pass rush. Solid B. Grade could go much higher. pass rusher is the most valuable position in the NFL after QB.

Petty was a tremendous value in the 4th. After the 2013 season some people were arguing if he or Winston would be the top player picked in the 2015 draft. He broke two bones in the top of his back first game of the 2014 season. Played in big pain all year. Still put up good numbers, but was a bit inconsistent. He is green and needs bench time, but in a great situation behind Fitz. Smart mature kid. If he can adjust to the NFL game, this could be the guy the Jets have been waiting for. If not it is still great value. Think floor, he will be a starter in the NFL. Ceiling, Has the physical skills to be elite. Considering where he was drafted A+

Harrison is a huge guy. Some people had a 2nd round grade on him. Rap was he didn't love football, and wasn't dedicated. If the Jets con motivate him, could be a starter as soon as next year. Question marks but still very good value in the 5th. B

The problem is the fact that they have missed badly at the WR position over the last 2 years.. A great, great group of WR's of the last 2 years and we missed out on a lot of good Ones...A LOT.....

we picked the likes of
2014 - Shaq Evans - cut
2014 - Jalen Saunders - Cut
2014 - Quincy Enunwa - solid but still a long way to go
2015 - Devin Smith - Early Jury is till out

and with 2014 being such a great class waiting till the 4th rd was an absolute joke of assessing talent and to boot we drafted Saunders and Evans in the 4th RD and Martavias Bryant was on the board for both picks.... I wanted him in the 2nd Rd....

We picked Amara in RD when we could have and should have had Allen Robinson or Davante Adams.. I could go on and on over who and why but hindsight is 20/20. Except for the fact I was screaming for Robinson or Bryant in RD 2 and in RD 3 I was screaming for Bryant and MonCreif and John Brown... But hey what the hell do I know compared to our scouting dept that year....

As far as 2015 goes well like everybody I wanted Amari Cooper.... but when RD2 rolled around I wanted Dorell BEckham-Green... worth the lost year to get him polished but I was happy with Smith... Hopefully he can get into gear this year.

I think the talent assessing is my big concern. We missed big in 2014 and that was year that was almost impossible to miss on a WR.. We took 3 and missed on all 3.. Enunwa is good but not the player we needed.
