Leonard Williams is in the concussion protocol

Jets head coach Todd Bowles confirmed today to the media defensive lineman Leonard Williams is in the concussion protocol.

On how Leonard Williams is feeling today…

He’s doing fine, so far, so we’ll see how the week goes.

Williams recorded his first career interception in Sunday’s loss to the Saints.

One cannot help but wonder whether the Jets will consider shutting Williams down at this point. The competitive part of the season is over. The Week 16 defeat to the Saints officially eliminated the Jets from postseason contention. Two games remain, but the Jets are playing for pride, to evaluate certain players, and other considerations. Williams presumably is a major part of the team’s plans for the foreseeable future. It might make sense for the Jets to preserve his health and get a head start on his offseason.

You would like to see him get a break but my guess is that he doesn't want a break and they will want to play him because he takes a lot of pressure off the rest of the lineup. I love that he got that interception. It made his day for sure.

I like Williams ,but the bigger problem is signing him. Will he be like Wilkerson/Richardson/Revis out for a big copntract & never work hard as he did to receive it? Im worried Jets gets scammed again. The only way is a contract by production incentives with so many tackles & sacks in a season to get big reward bonus. Sad thing is Wilkerson/Richardson/Revis showed the way to scam our Jets out of millions and once a millionaire quit playing hard .All Rookies that seen that now know Jets are suckers.

Williams seems to really love the game. He will want to get paid and so far he deserves to be paid. I don't think he will be anything like Revis, or Mo. Revis and Mo we're all about the money, Sheldon never got paid ( he is still on his rookie deal) and while he was a knuckle head off the field, he was non stop motor on the field and lack of effort or passion for the game was never his issue. This off season is actually the time to get an extension done. He will have finished his 3 rd year so just becoming eligible for an extension, it's cheaper to extend the player early and Williams will get a bigger payday then he is currently getting earlier. It's a win win situation.

Would give the franchise a chance to see if there is a viable option to replace Mo on the roster and he will likely miss this week, makes no sense not to shut him down for the remainder of the year. Sends a message to the young guys that the orginization values their health and had their best interest at heart too.
If we're looking to change the culture of the organization, let's change it in all Manors.

Wouldn't deactivating him open up a spot anyway? He shouldn't count towards the active roster that way..

I guess it's a moot point. Looks like he's going to play. Is back at practice. Once again the team makes an incredibly stupid decision.
