Let the Zach Mettenberger discussions begin.....NOW

(As per Adam Schefter, Zach Mettenberger has been released by the Tennessee Titans)

Two years ago, i wanted this guy out of LSU as he has a strong arm, between the ear knowledge and a competitive fire that burns true and hard. He has all the physical tools to be a legit starter in this league and i feel he would do great with Chan's system. He knew how utilze to big time receivers in college with Beckham and Landry. I'am sure he can do the same with Marshall and Decker.

I'd honestly love to take a shot at this guy over Geno in a heart beat.

We have Geno (Mid level serviceable backup kinda guy with a chance to have a light turn on and be an above average starter) We have Petty ( High Ceiling - Medium Floor guy) and we have Hackenberg ( Highest Ceiling Possible - Lowest floor possible )

Why do we want another project kinda a guy.....

@ years ago I wanted to take a shot with him too but where we are at today..... Not so much

I agree with this logic to a point, but at the same time should we EVER not look to upgrade a position, even if it's just depth?

I'm not saying I want to get the guy -- I don't know enough about him to say if he'd be worth it or not. But he does have NFL experience (an argument people use for keeping Geno), so if the CS feels #7 is a dead end, why not bring in his clone and see if we have any better luck?

i hope we don't replace a village idiot with another one.....

now if mac wants to interview the dope in hopes it gets team fitzpatrick back in renegotiation mode, i'm cool with that..

I'd consider it, but it would take a lot to get him to change his habits. It sounds like a lack of work ethic and a bad attitude are his biggest downfalls.

The physical skills are there. The mental skills? Not sure. The personality? Definitely not. Do you take a chance with a guy like that, especially when you already have that guy in Geno?

Gotta look at it from ZM's point of view. Why would he be interested in joining a team with 2 developmental QBs already on the roster? My guess is that he will be looking at teams with an established veteran that may have a couple of years left like Cowboys or Chargers.

Again, I get it, but if a guy "knows" one lottery ticket is a loser, I can't blame him if he goes and buys another one (knowing it's most likely a loser as well) . . .

I think the Jets should claim him and forget about Fitzpatrick.

Lets go to camp with four young QB's; Petty, Geno, Hackenberg and Mettenberger, then keep the best three.

Mattenberger has his faults, but he has great size and a big arm, there's some upside to be tapped, his fate was sealed in Tennessee when they drafted Mariota #2 Overall, otherwise he probably would have been their starter last year. He's still young and its worth a shot. The more young QB's we stockpile, the better ours odds of finding the answer.

i still believe fitzpatrick gets signed hours before training camp beings.. as flgreen has pointed out, that scenario would give both petty & hackenberg much needed reps..
