Looking at the Receiver Position

If we had to break down the receiver position we have what we need to move forward... No proven receiver doesn't mean there is no talent...

Vertical Threat:

Robby Anderson, Charone Peake

Anderson showed he is a capable deep threat option, and what worries most is his undersized frame but in today's game there are plenty of undersized (thin) wide outs, which doesn't mean he can not further his development into that true No. 1 type wide out... He isn't the only option tho, with a bigger frame and just as much long speed is our 7th round selection, Charone Peake... We know he is a student of the game just on that one fumble he scooped and scored on... Peake has the height, and awareness that a No. 1 receiver needs and why wouldn't the team give him every opportunity to take the job away from whom we believe should be contending for that starting position...

Possession:

Quincy Enunwa, Chad Hansen

Reasons for the recent news of trade/release of veteran Eric Decker, is because of these two receivers... Enunwa may not be considered a legit consistent possession receiver but that is what he is being considered... His role of being able to kick inside to block, set the edge in the run game while being a dominate force over the middle gives him the edge... He is younger and of course less expensive... Q. is also more versatile than Decker... Our rookie selection Chad Hansen was compared to Eric Decker in ever fashion and with his length, Hansen has the ability to be a day one starter... More than likely these two will have a significant role in our offense this upcoming season...

Speed/Quickness:

ArDarius Stewart, Jalin Marshall

ArDarius Stewart is the obvious selection of the two but until recent news of Quinton Patton being placed on injured reserve did this open the roster spot for Jalin Marshall to steal... Before Patton, this job was to be Devin Smith... Smith also known for his vertical speed, was to be more than a deep threat in this offense... With both Smith and Patton on injured reserve, JMarsh has the foot in the door, as long as he stays away from Aderol and works his arse off he can steal this job and become an effective option on special teams... ArDarius Stewart will lineup both inside and outside and has the physicality to backup Quincy as the team's split end/h-back in audible situations...

Now there is no guarantees that Jalin should easily win this job because there is a few talented options nipping at his heels in two rookies KD Cannon and Gabe Marks... Both are raw but have some nice potential to build upon... But even with those two the team has stacked the deck at this position, with the likes of Deshon Foxx, Devin Street and Frankie Hammond all have a little more experience but none are sure bets... The final option, which many Jets fans are hoping to see take the job, is fourth year man Myles White... White spent some time on our practice squad last season and could be the best bet to take the final roster spot at this position possibly bumping Jalin Marshall to the practice squad...
