Earlier this week, former Ravens running back Ray Rice arrived in Los Angeles to serve as a coach for the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl and said that he wasn’t giving up his hope of returning to the league as a player.

Rice has not played the last two seasons after being released by the Ravens in the wake of the release of the video of him knocking out his wife with a punch in an Atlantic City elevator. If he does get another chance heading into the 2016 season, it doesn’t look like it will come with the Jets.
During an interview on WFAN Friday, Jets General Manager Mike Maccagnan was asked if the team has considered signing Rice.

“I think we’ve talked about that at various points in time,” Maccagnan said, via NJ.com. “I would probably say that that would be one that I would probably have to sit down and talk with Todd [Bowles] and Woody [Johnson]. But I don’t foresee that at this point in time.”

Chris Ivory, Stevan Ridley and Bilal Powell are all headed for free agency in March if they don’t re-sign with the Jets and it seems unlikely that all three will be back, which should mean some new faces in the Jets backfield. Should their top plans at the position fail to materialize, Rice could be given another look down the road.

Stay away. Two years out of the league. He had lost a step before his incident. Let's just draft a rookie that can catch out of the backfield
