Maccagnan on Free Agency

Two of the weakest positions in the draft is CB and QB. The two best QB's in this year's draft class is Winston and Mariota after those two there is a big drop at QBs. I like how Macc mentioned he will be active during the offseason. Jets have a hole at pretty much every position except for defensive line and center.

Some free agents I hope they consider is G, Mike Lupati, CB, Kareem Jackson, QB, Ryan Mallet, and CB, Brandon Flowers to name a few. I would also consider trading down and getting more draft picks to fill more holes during draft day. Of course depending whose available at #6 .

I like Bryce Petty at QB. And as far as watching the Senior Bowl practice there's some really good OLB and CB's showing out.

I like Petty as well, however after Mariota and Winston their's a big drop off with QBs. I feel Petty has potential to be a good QB I like his attitude. With Cb's as of now their are none worth drafting in the top 10 range. Trae Waynes from Michigan State and Marcus Peters from Washington are two solid CB's.

I would love to see some CB and some OL in free agency. No sold on any QB's available but we need someone unless Chan is a guru and can get geno to actually play good football. Not sure how to solve the QB issue.

Trae Waynes is a 1st round pick in my opinion. And from what I've been seeing Damarious Randall could move up too, but he's a Safety if I'm not mistaken. Other. than those 2 I agree there's not many 1st round DBs but there's some guys out there that are gonna shine as Pros. Quandre Diggs is one I guarantee who will prosper but he's more of a 3rd - 6th round pick. On the Jets app they talk about a lot of these guys so it's clear they're on the radar. If we do go for a veteran CB in FA, which I'm sure we will, I wouldn't be against going after Revis. Bellichek holds no loyalty to any players other than Brady so I don't expect Revis to be a Patriot next year. If not Revis then I've heard Byron Maxwell would be available. I wouldn't mind him in Green & White. Brandon Flowers could be a good pickup too.

Agree

Just the Jets luck that they have an early pick, just not early enough to get a QB. And the two weakest positions in the draft are the two positions the Jets need.

The good news, at CB at least as you have pointed out, is Kareem Jackson, who Mac should have some intel on, and Cromartie. Who is already campaigning to come back. If Maccagnan, and Bowles like them I would sign them on the first day of FA along with Lupati.

Agree with most of what you said except the trading down. First I don't know how motivated anyone would be to trade down if the QB's are gone, and secondly, if the Bucs don't take Winston at 1 (I think they will) I've got the Titians on the phone to make a deal to move up and get Winston. Jets are in a good spot to do that. Titians seem fairly happy with Zack. If they take Winston, I still call them, after the draft to see if they want to trade Zack

It costs a lot to move up. I know it's the Jets luck to need a QB and a Cb in a weak draft for these two positions. However during FA, their seems to be a lot of potential good corners available. Would love Cromartie, honestly felt he should still be a Jet.

I'm not a huge fan of Mettenberger, as a backup role I think he has great potential. Nobody likes the idea of trading down but since the Jets have a lot of holes and not a lot of picks I feel it's worth a shot. That's if nobody is worth taking with the #6 pick.

A big influence is what players and positions are filled during the offseason. I wouldn't rule out a good pass rusher or a solid OL if one is available at 6 because Bowles likes Blitz a lot and Pace and Babin are aging. With OL can use a potential young player to help the aging OL.

I'm not solid on either QB, not because their not Andrew Luck like but because I have doubts that Mariota system can translate well with the Jets system. With Winston, I know this repetitive but given he has off field issues I feel like it's not a great idea to bring him to New York. That's not to say that these two quarterbacks can't be good quarterbacks but I think they have potential. With the first pick I feel it's best to get an impact player.

I think the jets make a play for jason woirlds then we have alot of flexability going in the draft.

lupati, woirlds, and cromartie would be a great FA start.

Agree with 95% of what your saying (which is pretty amazing in itself) I realize that trading up to 2 is expensive, but it won't be so horrible from 6. IMO Winston is worth it.

I also understand what you are saying about Winston's behavior. I don't think he is a thug turd, he gets very good grades, and made the ACC scholastic all star team. He's a team leader, and a good locker room guy. Very Gung Ho. I think he is just immature, think he turned 21 this month.

He's been under tremendous pressure emotionally, and physically. Has had a high ankle sprain since week two, and has still performed very well under pressure. Even in the route by the Ducks, his play (with the exception of his one Geno moment) was very good under a lot of pressure.

I've seen the kid play a lot, and the only game I can recall that he played badly was against the Gators.

Certainly can't guarantee it, but I think this guy has a chance to be special. I would hate to be looking back in 5 years watching another Marino situation if there is any way we can get him, IMO he's worth the risk

Don't think Winston is a thug, I'm just scared of bringing his off field issues to New York. Actually think the better QB than Mariota. I agree. It's just with the holes the Jets have I would hate to lose anymore draft picks.

If Winston falls at #6 I would consider the possibility and take a chance of possibly drafting him. Jets need a QB and it's clear that Mariota and Winston are the best two in the draft. With so many holes the Jets have I feel the Jets draft an impact player.

However, it all depends how they approach free agency and learning more about Gailey's system. Honestly when it comes during draft day the Jets can fill a lot of key positions which would allow us to go QB, but for now I want an impact player.

What more need do the Jets have then a QB? Who has more impact on a team then a QB? They don't come around very often. Namath, O'Brian was OK, Vinny for a short time. That's about it since 1960. If there is a potential franchise QB with in reach, you have to roll the dice. You might not get another chance for 20 years.

Pretty much everything but DL and C. Who says these two are franchise QB's? That's not to say they won't be, but in the past their has been top rated guys who have been busts. Not counting getting a QB in the first round out. Depends on free agency and whose available at #6 . Wouldn't give up draft picks on either of them unless the Jets had more holes filled.

Well they had 12 picks last year, and 8 the year before, how many holes did the fix?

It got worst. There are no guaranteed hits in the draft

Doubt very much we see Mac sitting on a big pile of available cap this offseaaon. The hope of all Jet fans should be that it is spent wisely and that the holes, especially at OLB, the OL and depth at DB get effectively plugged up. A stopgap who can play needs to be found at QB

Exactly my point! Hopefully with a better scouting and a better coaching staff they can turn the team around.

Besides all the QB's the Jets could have had like Marino.Favre(In the draft)Manning and Wilson instead of the Ghost in 2008 they could have had Flacco..
