Good player. I know many of us were calling for him to replace Cro but not sure that will happen.

Yes he is a good player. Very productive, fantastic ball skills. 6 picks and 1.5 sacks in limited time. He's great in the role he's playing. Which is basically the 4th CB. The reason for that is his 4.57 40. If they make him Cro's replacement he'll be required to be man to man quite a bit. Other teams will game plan to get him man to man with some 4.38 WR. That often ends badly.

I like him right where he's at as the extra CB, where he can free lance a bit, and use his ball skills

Kinda agree with FLG and I definitely see us drafting a 'long CB' in mid rounds to develop. We need someone to matchup with some of these big-bodied WRs.

I think the game is changing and I hope that Bowles will be able to adapt in the near future. Leaving CBs on an island is a recipe to get beat.

Each team employs big and fast wide receivers, small and shifty wide receivers, athletic tight ends who might as well be a WRs. It's impossible to cover these guys one on one. There's not one CB that can do that. Athletes are getting bigger, faster and stronger and the Jets in my opinion will need to adopt a scheme that can covers these players up as a unit.

I guess I'll fool myself and say this once more. Milliner is still on the team, he has some tools. Yawn. Guy didn't even get one snap last season I don't think. The talent is there, maybe, just maybe he can come in next year, stay healthy, and play football.

Got to kind of disagree with some of this E.

Yes, the game has changed. Gone are the days of the Namath and Stabler 50 yard bombs. You'll see one once in awhile, but they are rare. The Tampa 2 deep zone coverage a lot of teams are using has taken that away.

What most of the winning teams are doing, is mimicking the Pats. Brady gets that ball out in 2.1 seconds. Often only travels 7-8 yards, hits a fast, or big WR in stride across the middle, and he runs a long way with it. it's all about getting the ball out quickly, timing, and being accurate. It's a bang bang play. Very difficult to defend.

The way to beat it, is to bring a CB up in man to man press coverage. Knock the WR or TE off his route, throw the timing off. Then be able to run with him 8-10 yards. To make this work the defense MUST have a good pass rush that is going to be hurrying the QB in 3 seconds. So he won't be able to reload.

That's why the highest paid people in the NFL are QB's , edge rushers, and CB's.
