This will be a reality check for some. He couldn't beat out Jake Heaps.

i am surprised he was cut this quickly. i figured he was a long shot at best to make the 53-man roster with geno, fitz and petty basically guaranteed spots (baring injuries or something crazy). not sure if simms is even PS eligible anymore. but i figured he and heaps would both make it to camp and one of them would go in 1st cuts.

I was gonna post the other day that I wouldn't be surprised if Simms doesn't even make it to training camp, but I figured whats the point of posting it other than to try and look clever, and it wasn't something I wanted to waste any time discussing with the inevitable feedback.
Anyway I think it makes perfect sense because we're only carrying three QB's (Geno, Fitz, Petty), and we all know Simms wasn't one of the three. Also he's out of practice squad eligibility, so even that option was closed to him. I figured the Jets would rather keep Jake Heaps because at least they can stash him on the PS.

On a better note and getting back to the actually thread, you had to figure this was going to happen. I mean over the last two years Simms couldn't even get on the field. It didnt matter how bad Geno or Vick played, they still wouldn't play Simms. Even as short sided as Rex and his coaches were, they still wouldn't play Simms. If that doesn't tell you something, I dont know what will. Im sure the kid will bounce back and someone else will pick him up. Even if its for the practice squad.
