I said somewhere in the many QB threads Bowles only wants to go to training camp with 4 QBs and once Fitz proved healthy enough to throw either Simms or Heaps would get cut. Looks like Fitz showed enough this week and Simms was the loser.
I think the fact he wasnt even good enough to be a camp arm speaks volumes about how he even lasted on the team this long...

Obviously didn't see much of a chance to make the team. And in all honesty, under zero circumstances could he be an NFL starting QB, so why waste a roster spot? Our QB depth chart with starter, vet back up, developmental project is better short and long term. Good move for both sides.

This makes the most sense.... Cause I don't see Heaps beating him out... Petty ain't gonna slip to the PS so Simms was probably getting cut regardless... Unless he showed a ton... Probably wants to go to Cleveland or some other city where he has a better shot.
Personally I think any player from the pre MaccBowles era, better play real well or bye bye.

I'm happy this happened. Running through 5 QB's in an open competition would certainly be a tough task. This makes things easier for the CS to determine who they appoint to the practice squad and who makes the roster.
I say Heaps gets on the practice squad. Ryan gets the starting nod, Geno backs him up, and Bryce keeps the bench warm.

One could argue that getting cut now is being nice to Simms - gives him maximum chance to find another opportunity. Might be - in effect - a favor to him or his dad to do it now.
I think it was uphill for Matt with Petty on board and new front office in charge
