I stand by my post. Towards the end of the game, with the opportunity to kick an extra point to go up by 2, or try for a 2-point play to go up by 3, there isn’t a coach in the league who would just kick the extra point. At the end of a game, it makes *No* difference if you would be up by 1 point or 2 points, so if the attempt fails, it doesn’t matter. It makes a HUGE difference if you can get up by 3 points. To discuss chasing points early in the game is a whole different matter. That *WOULD**be stupid, but that is an apples to oranges comparison. I don’t understand why chasing points early was even brought up. The Jets were in an *end game* situation.
How a team has done in the past is irrelevant. It is the situation (the amount of time left) that matters. When a team is down by a touchdown with 5 seconds left, every coach who has ever lived would call for a bomb into the end zone. Should a coach say, that we have never completed a pass in that situation, so we didn’t bother trying it?

I agree with everything you said situationally; especially when we were up one, and to go up 2 means you're a kick away from losing.

@innocenti had a premise that he hated the 2 point conversion...period. i get that too. i am in that camp until a situation arises that it is stupid to not try it.

however, if you listen to head coaches, they have a list of times that they do it, and it is not an end of game scenario in all instances.

And I would be in agreement that with 5 seconds left on the clock after scoring a touchdown and trailing by 2-points that you should go for 2.

If you have no other options, of course you need to attempt the conversion. But that's rarely the case. What seems to happen quite often is that teams act like they have no choice based on some scenario, fail on the conversion, and end up ruining a different scenario where they would've been ok with had they just kicked the xp.

you see that all of the time...and it becomes the inevitable XP missed that bites you in the @$$, but you did it to yourself. dude, i get exactly where you're at!

Yes, we have all seen references to that chart. There should have been a notification in it that said, “STOP READING THIS IF IT IS THE FIRST HALF.” If I recall correctly, Herm had problems with that concept. Probably all of the Jets’ coaches other than Parcells had problems with it because with it because they basically had problems with everything. Sigh.

LMFAO...yes, Herm had problems with the managerial aspects of that, the clock, and bringing talent to fruition. IMO, he was a great coach for a veteran team. But you don't get to that point with that many holes in your resume.

We really need to give this more time like a horse race we may have to wait until the photo finish. Unless both horses are running the wrong way.

I don't like Wilson but he needs time on the bench at this point. If White is Brady ll or close we will know in time. Right now I am having more fun watching white & the Jets then I have had in sometime......now what will tonight bring....we will find out on this site tomorrow lol or maybe late tonight.

Johnson played well and I saw only one drop. Granted the Jets were trailing by a mile and getting a soft defense. But Wilson was in the same situation and still performed horribly.

I am going to say this LaFleur can call an offensive game plan when he is up in the booth...
We have seen Mike White, and now Josh Johnson execute and put up gaudy numbers...
Just hope Wilson comes back and with his arm talent reign it in and work the game plan...
Otherwise here is Joe... Flacco or sign Josh and lets get at it...

a.) it's a totally different offense with him in the booth.
b.) as far as i am concerned, Zach hasn't had a chance to operate this offense.

it is literally the same game plan he is just calling different group of plays in game because he can see the whole field better...

from the side line view he can not witness what the defenses are presenting, but in the booth he can attack sets better...

Just want to say the Jets offense has 997 yards and 62 first downs over the last 2 games

i get it...i was being figurative; not literal. I think i have been pretty outspoken about ML going to the booth, because "from the side line view he can not witness what the defenses are presenting, but in the booth he can attack sets better... "

you might have missed my 1000 or so posts calling for it😊

as to Zach's plays called for him, he has yet to be the beneficiary of ML in the booth. so although the plays are the same within the offense's entirety, to say his numbers are fairly represented makes no sense...if he had plays called that ran receivers directly into coverages (which looks like a very real possibility), then i cannot wait to see him be able to throw where they ain't.

I think the hiring of Beck is because Zach is loose with his on field decision making reason for the 9 interceptions... I would rather Mike White if healthy to continue playing because of his capability of cycling through progressions as he did on that first Moore touchdown pass... Moore was his fifth progression the ball was suppose to go to Mims on the right side... He looked at MC, then Kroft then Crowder then saw Moore open...

Also, Mike White goes through the progression quickly in addition to being ideal height. He shouldn't have waited this long to start at qb.

Mike White this is his fourth year and oddly enough he has been with us for three of them... He has learned from practice with whats his name and now with LaFleur understands his progressions... He understands the dump offs or dinks and dunks will open up the middle to long shots and they have, the wheel route to Elijah Moore 1st receiving touchdown was his fifth read, main read was Mims then Kroft then MC then Crowder and then saw Moore get open with his throwing zip able to make it look easy...

hopefully Zach was paying attention because he that big arm accurate deep ball thrower looking for the home run...

Rookie Yogi Berra said, "Bill Dickey is learning me his experience"
Maybe by watching on the sidelines, Zach will learn some of White's experience.

we hope...

what I learned is Beck has been in LaFleur's ear to simplify the offense game plan to allow the players to learn and grow, hmm wonder where I heard/read that somewhere???
